These are the easiest kinds of tests, typically including one-word answer, multiple and single choice and true or false questions. Most not requiring text answers from the student are automatically graded.
But, even though they're usually pretty easy, here are just a few tips I've learnt along my way after storming year one:
1) Always read the lesson beforehand - sometimes you really want to just get on with it, but this process is annoyingly essential.2) Look for names, dates and definitions that are sure to be mentioned in the tests, i.e. "when was the Mayan civilisation meant to die out" could be a common question. Look for dates and names that stand out.3) Usually with one-choice questions, you'll have an option of four answers to choose from. Usually one of these answers is highly unlikely, one unlikely and two will be near the answer. Compare these two if the other two are unlikely and highly unlikely.4) When answering with dates, be sure to put A.D. or B.C.E. behind the answer.5) When remembering names, think of charms; i.e. 'in-SEN-dee-oh' with implication on the 'SEN'. When memorising a name, pronounce the syllables separately and possibly to a beat, i.e. 'hil-DER-brand HA-ris". Or abbreviate the names - it's up to you. Both methods have worked for me.
