Chapter 1 (Ami's point of view)
Chapter 1
“Well, this is it,” Nyx sighed. “Home for two weeks for Christmas then back to classes.”
I poked my twin, “Cheer up. We get to see Ivy, Mom, and Dad.”
Nyx’s face brightened, “True!”
It was Christmas break and Nyx and I were going home for the holidays. Nyx was sad about leaving our friends, but me, who tends to be quieter, was happy to go back to the comfort of home. I couldn’t wait to see our little sister Ivy again and tell Mom and Dad how our classes are going. We hopped onto the Hogwarts Express that we would take home. Our parents had told us that they can’t pick us up from the station, so Nyx and I were going to fly on our broomsticks most of the way and try to stay out of sight when we arrive at our stop. I slipped into a private compartment while Nyx went to talk with some of her friends in a different compartment.
I sat down and slumped against the window. I was exhausted after staying up late thinking of what to get my dad for Christmas. Oh, I forgot to tell you who Nyx and I are. Nyx and I are the Potter twins. Yep, that’s right, our dad is Harry Potter. My name is Ami Potter. Nyx and I are luckily not identical. I have dark brown hair that has a blond streak in it, green eyes, and pale skin. I’m a sarcastic, quiet, calm, caring girl that only has a couple of close friends. I usually wear comfortable clothes like sweats and hoodies but sometimes I’ll wear skirts, dresses, jeans, and dressier clothes. I have pierced ears that usually sport hoops or studs. Nyx has really long light brown hair (all the way to her legs - but she normally keeps it in a ponytail) with a light blue streak that she was born with. She also has violet eyes which change colour according to her mood, like mine, and lightly-tanned skin. Nyx’s also very sarcastic, like me, and very quirky too. Now that I think about it, we’re actually quite similar. You’ll never see her in a dress or anything formal, even skirts unless it’s a must, and she’s almost always wearing a hoodie and jeans. My twin has the same piercings as I do, and even an extra one, but she only wears studs. She’s very caring and helpful, and can sometimes get a bit over-excited… or over-stressed. We’re both in Ravenclaw, but if I’m honest, she acts a lot like a Slytherin sometimes, and she’s very secretive.
As the train got closer to home, the more excited I got. I couldn’t wait to see our little sister again and hug our mom. I knew that our dad would be wanting an update on how our classes were going but once he got that he would be too excited for Christmas and end up giving each one of his three daughters one of their Christmas presents a week early. At this point, it was a tradition, and Nyx and I would always tease him about being even more impatient than his own kids.
The door slid open to the compartment and Nyx walked in, “Our stop is next. You coming?”
I grinned and hopped off of my seat and grabbed both my suitcase and broom, before following Nyx out of the compartment, before the train pulled to a stop and we hopped off. Both of us hopped onto our brooms and flew towards our home. Landing in front of the house, we both excitedly ran up the front house and in the front door. Once inside we both stopped short. Something wasn’t right. EVERYTHING wasn’t right...
