Chapter 2: M.O.M. Classification
Chapter 2
M.O.M. Classifications, ( Ministry of Magic Classifications ) are how zoologists, and The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures keep track of all of the animals/beasts/beings/spirits in the Wizarding World. It is represented as multiple X's. Here is what they mean:
X- Harmless, See everyday
XX- Harmless, Easy to Domesticate
XXX- Skilled Wizard should handle
XXXX- Dangerous, Very Hard to Domesticate, May Kill Wizards
XXXXX- Kills Wizards, Impossible to Domesticate, Keep Away!
Every so often an animal will be marked as dangerous, but isn't actually dangerous, like the Unicorn and the Centaur. They get XXXX ratings because they are highly protected and cared for by wizards, not because they are dangerous.
