Destruction of Us All - A Short Story

Chapter 1
They took everything from me.

My home. My friends. My family.

Everything.

They made so much disappear from my life. One minute it was there. The next… it dissolved like salt in hot water.

My hope. My faith. My wish that the world could actually become a better place. It all disappeared.

And for what?

For nothing.

Just for some stupid plan to “reunite the world” and “bring peace to our land” but I know that isn’t going to happen. You know why? Because there will always be bad people in the world. Constantly corrupting people. Destroying people. They seem good, but they will turn. It’s all part of their scheme.

And soon, soon people will have no choice but to succumb to their plan. Succumb to their pain. The people will convince themselves they're doing good, but know this.

I will not give in to their lies. The people are blind. I am not. The people don’t see the true flaw in this “plan”. I do.

See, until recently, I’ve spent my whole life trusting the people who take care of my world, and I was not at all prepared for when I learned the truth, which I’m positive not many know. We are taught to trust everyone, trust each other, trust our government. But in these past few months, living alone, in the streets, I have thrown that way of life away. I am no longer the pretty, law-abiding, stupid girl who will trust anyone. No. I am the fierce, smart fighter who trusts no one. I learned the rules but now I live to break them.

Am I a rebel? Maybe. A trailblazer? Definitely. Am I a good person? I don’t know.

I doubt myself and I try to find the answer to that every day, but alas, I don’t know.

My goal is simply to live another day, take another step, do the next right thing. And maybe, maybe, one day, I can make a difference.

But it’s hard to see that there’s even a slight bit of hope. Because every day, slowly but surely, evil spreads. Evil corrupts. Evil brings pain to our world. But the people don’t see that. Nor do they feel it. Not yet.

The people have not yet learned how to lift the blindfold off their face that has blinded them for so long and see the reality of our world.

They do not realize that we are causing our own chaos. We are the ones too blind and too gullible to realize that we are not doing good.

We are bringing the destruction of us all.

We just don’t know it yet.
