Chapter 5
I can't believe Snape did this. Sirius has been getting very mixed messages from others, including some hate mail from Bellatrix & his parents. I've been talking to him, but he's been sick for a week and won't come out of the dorm. I'm really worried about him.
We were walking down to breakfast when Bellatrix Lestrange advanced. She pushed right past James, Peter and I, and pushed Sirius against the wall at wand point.
"YOU FAGGOT!"
She screeched for the whole hall to hear.
"YOU SHAME ON THE HOUSE OF BLACK! WAIT TILL I TELL AUNT WALBURGA AND UNCLE ORION! YOU WAIT!"
I didn't think. I dropped my wand and dove at her, knocking her to the ground. Wands forgotten, she began punching every inch of me she could reach. By the time McGonagall pulled us apart, I had a black eye and her nose was bleeding. I'd never gotten into a fight before. I turned around.
"R-Remus..." Sirius sounded horrified. I must look awful.
By the end of the day, we'd both had our share of hate. The rumor of us kissing at the party spread like Fiendfyre. I was shocked when Regulus, Sirius's younger brother, threatened me. The Blacks weren't really LGBTQ+ friendly, but that wasn't what he wanted. I was torn between fear and humor when I received the "If you hurt my brother-" speech. This was peculiar, Regulus and Sirius weren't exactly on speaking terms. And when Sirius came over to us, Regulus left before his older brother could acknowledge he was there.
"Was Reg giving you a hard time?" Sirius asked, his silver eyes crinkled in concern.
"No-He was fine." I felt my face flush. I wondered if Snape had been telling the truth when he said Sirius liked him, he seemed to be, but I couldn't help but worry. I loved Sirius so much, he was so afraid he would reject me.
*They're alone in the common room together now*
"P-padfoot...." I whispered, "About what Snape said-"
Sirius's face darkened. "I don't know how he found out-"
"So its true?" I blurted. To his dismay, Sirius took his hands.
"Of course, Moony!"
"You-you love me?"
"I-well, if you do too-"
"Sirius-" I was almost in tears. Sirius saw and though I was upset.
"Moony, I'm sorry, I-"
