Chapter 4
When that bottle landed on me, I didn't know what to do. I barely remember the walk to the broom cupboard that seemed to take a million years. When the door was shut, however, Remus and I just stared at each other for a while, and I finally decided to make a move.
"Aren't you going to kiss me?" I asked tentatively.
His whole face seemed to relax, and then he did it.
He kissed me.
I'd kissed people before but never like this. It had always been dares, searches for attention, or simply to piss people off. Never before had I kissed someone I actually loved.
I don't think we broke apart one for the entire seven minutes, but when Lily pushed open the door, we pulled apart at once. Her shocked expression faded quickly into a smile. Remus opened his mouth, but she interrupted.
"Don't worry. You secret's safe with me."
The rest of the party was a blur, but what I do remember is that when the Marauders made our way back to the common room, James, the little prat, kept teasing me, because he knew how terrified and exited i had felt. We were arguing, Remus, his face a bright scarlet whenever his name came up, was re-reading "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" for the hundredth time, and Peter was eating chocolate from Remus's stash and watching James and I fight like it was a movie. Life was good. My friends were amazing. But just then Marlene came running in.
"Sirius, Remus, there's something you should see."
In her hand was her phone. She was on FaceWarts, the Hogwarts social media app, and there was a post that was going viral. Remus grabbed the phone. All the blood drained from his face. Hand shaking, he gave me the phone.
The title was:
"SIRIUS BLACK IS GAY!!!"
Underneath, it said,
"A CONVERSATION OVERHEARD BY A STUDENT CONFIRMED THAT SIRIUS BLACK IS INDEED GAY AND LIKES REMUS LUPIN"
I put the phone down.
"Who did this?"
"I-Sirius...." she whispered.
"WHO DID THIS?!"
I was shouting. I caught myself and sat back down.
"Snape. It was Snape." Alice said as she walked in with a horrified Lily. "Sirius, I'm sorry..."
"I'm going to bed." I ran up into the dorm before they could say anything else.
