Wizarding Schools - Castelobruxo

Chapter 5

Wizarding Schools - Castelobruxo

description

For the next two weeks, we will be visiting the Americas to explore the magical schools established here. The first we will learn about is Castelobruxo (pronounced Cass-tell-o-broo-shoo), located in Brazil. This prestigious school is a very large and beautiful building made of golden rocks, and it is sometimes confused with a temple. It is hidden from muggles the same way that Hogwarts is, to their eyes it appears to be an old ruin.

Students from all over South America come here to gain a magical education. They wear bright green robes and are especially proficient in Magizoology and Herbology. Because of their distinguished reputation for education in these fields, Castelobruxo offers exchange programs for European students who want to expand their knowledge in these subjects. As you may remember, Charlie Weasley was thinking about attending Castelbruxo, but his family could not afford to pay for the trip. When he told his pen-pal that he would not be able to come, she sent him a cursed hat that caused his ears to shrivel up!

Castelobruxo is protected by small, furry spirit-beings, known as Caipora. They come out during the night and are very mischievous. In one notable exchange visit to Hogwarts, the former Headmistress of Castelobruxo, Benedita Dourado, was heard to laugh heartily when Headmaster Dippet complained about Peeves. She offered to send him some Caipora for the Forbidden Forest ‘to show you what trouble really is,’ but he declined this offer.

Some notable students that attended Castelobruxo are Libatius Borage, who was a celebrated potioneer, and João Coelho, the Captain of the Tarapoto Tree-Skimmers, a Quidditch team of world-renown.

Castelobruxo would be an amazing and exciting school to attend!

*We will have a series of Wizarding Schools, one article on a school in every other issue for a few issues. This is the third article of the Wizarding Schools Series.*
