Two Rescues

They both stood there for a moment. Tiberius was panting heavily and there was a searing stitch in his side, but relief was coursing through his body. Then he remembered what they were supposed to be doing.

"Maya," he said, "We need to find -"

"I know," she finished, straightening. Her eyes were still blazing, and she smiled. "Come on, Tiberius," she said. She led the way up to the boys dormitories. Tiberius pressed after her.

They mounted the spiral staircase and then entered the first year dormitory. They were all sleeping, completely unaware of what was happening.

"Which Potter is it?" Tiberius asked, suddenly realising for the first time that there were two Potter boys. "The older one or the younger?"

"The younger," Maya replied promptly. "Obviously they would have captured the older one before now if it had been him." She looked around at the emerald four-poster beds. "There." She gestured. Tiberius approached the dark-haired boy, and shook him.

"Wake up," he said. "You've got to go."

The boy woke. He glared. "What're you doing?" He demanded.

"There are Death Eaters here!" Tiberius said, losing patience. "In Hogwarts! Looking for you!"

"What?" The boy momentarily looked alarmed, and then annoyed. "Look, I'm not stupid. Leave me alone."

"This is true!" Tiberius felt himself getting very angry. "You are being stupid! They're trying to use you to resurrect You-Know-Who because you're Harry Potter's son!"

It looked as if Albus Potter was finally beginning to believe him, but he still remained slightly stubborn. "That isn't true," he replied. "Now get out of here and -"

"It's true!" Maya stepped forward.

"What're you doing in here?" Albus said, scowling.

At that moment there was a bang from below and screams. Albus jumped. "What was that?" He asked. Then he turned back to them. "They - they are here, aren't they?" He said. "But - but why do they want me?"

"I told you, because you're Harry Potter's son!" Tiberius said. "Now come on."

"Where are we going?" Albus asked.

Tiberius looked at Maya.

"Vell, obviously, out of Hogwarts," Maya said. "He can't stay vere any longer."

Tiberius nodded. "Yes," he said. "But how will we get out?"

"We need to find someone who can apparate us out of vere," she replied. "Come on." She led the way out of the dormitory. Tiberius and Albus followed.

Once in the common room before the entrance wall, they all hesitated.

"Are - are you sure we should go out?" Tiberius asked.

Maya bit her lip. "Ve have to," she replied. She touched the wall once. It began to slide back.

The corridor outside was empty. Maya stepped cautiously out, her wand at the ready. Tiberius and Albus followed. No one was there.

"Come on," Maya said, beginning to walk down the corridor. "Let's -"

BANG!

A jet of red light flew through the air. Maya crumpled.

"No!" Tiberius said. He rushed forward.

"Stop!" Albus yelled.

"Crucio!" Yaxley shouted.

The curse missed Tiberius by inches. He whirled around to face the Death Eater.

"Petrificus Totalus!" He yelled.

Yaxley deflected it easily. "I could have harmed her worse," he said, with a sneer. "You're lucky I didn't hit her with the Killing Curse."

Tiberius didn't care - he was so angry.

"Impedimenta!" He shouted.

"Enough Freezing charms from you," Yaxley said, smiling cruelly. He deflected the jinx and began to stride forward.

"Locomoter Mortis!" Tiberius yelled. "Flipendo!"

Yaxley deflected both spells. "Do learn to keep your mouth shut," he said coolly.

"Expelliarmus!" Tiberius shouted. "Volatilis Lut-"

He was blasted backwards. He landed hard on the ground. Stars appeared before his eyes. All he could hear was Yaxley's footsteps, marching closer and closer.

He heard Albus's voice. "Stupefy!"

The spell missed Yaxley, but the Death Eater turned around.

"Ah," he said, smiling. "I see. Here is the Potter boy."

Tiberius tried to raise his head but slumped back down. He felt dizzy and unfocused, his vision was swimming...

"Just walked right up to me, didn't you?" Yaxley continued. "Well, don't mind if I just -" he raised his wand.

"Expelliarmus!"

Yaxley's wand flew out of his hand. He whirled around, his face a mask of fury. "How dare -" he began.

Tiberius raised his head. He blinked hard and managed to focus. There stood Tamsin Longbottom, her plump face angry and her eyes blazing like Maya's had. She held Yaxley's wand. "Petrificus Totalus!" She said.

Yaxley's arms snapped to his sides. He fell over backwards, completely rigid.

Tamsin rushed over to Tiberius. "Tiberius, are you all right?" She asked anxiously. "Renervate, renervate! Oh, I don't know how to do that spell!"

"I'm fine, Tamsin," Tiberius said weakly. He propped himself up on his elbows. "Tamsin, you were brilliant, you -"

But Tamsin wasn't listening. She had seen Maya. "Oh no!" She said. "Is she okay?"

"I dunno," Tiberius said. His head was throbbing painfully, but he ignored it. "Go - go see."

Tamsin hurried over to Maya. Her face relaxed into an expression of relief.

"Oh, thank goodness, she's just stunned," she said. "I need to get someone, wait here, Tiberius..."

Her voice faded off. Tiberius slumped back down. He felt dizzy again, everything was going black...
