Love Unexpected: Chapter three
I jumped out of bed excitedly. As the events of yesterday filled my head, I sat back down, Humph. I heard two knocks on the door.
*Tap tap*
I looked up to see a familiar face staring at me, a smile spread across my face and he followed in response. Ron. I stood up and wiped the smile off my face.
“Where have you been? We were all worried about you, what you did to me.”
His smile faded, but his eyes glistened with compassion; Mine flared with rage.
“LAVENDER BROWN! Out of all the people in the world that you cheated on me with, you have got to be kidding.” My voice faltered as it lowered to a whisper. I looked at his eyes straight into his soul and calmly said.
“Do you even love me Ronald, because I love you and you're not getting rid of me so easily nor am I you. After everything we have been through?”
My voice raised, “Look at me, right at me and tell me you don’t love me.”
My voice got louder with every syllable spilling from my lips.
“TELL ME IT’S OVER, BUT DON’T FOR ONE SECOND TELL ME YOU LOVE HER!”
My voice shook with fury and disappointment.
A tear dripped from my eye and more started spilling out. I looked over at Ron and he too was crying.
“Of course I love you Hermione you’re bloody brilliant, and… c- cute,” He stuttered. “You're like a sister to me - more even.” His voice shook with fear.
But, of what?
Losing me. His sisterly figure. What? Is that what I am to him?
A sister. Of course not, he doesn’t snog Ginny like that, or at all thankfully. He loves me in a different way. But how different. So many things raced through my head in a fraction of a second.
But if I’m not with Ron, then who am I with? A new feeling appeared in my mix of emotions, fear. I have never pictured myself with anyone else. That is how things are supposed to be. Perfect, together, and unharmed.
“Why did you do it?” I asked hesitantly. A question. A surrender. A second chance.
Hope appeared in Rons eyes, his gaze softened. “ I don’t know,” He sighed. “She just showed up and started snogging me, I mean it’s not like i’m getting any affection from you.”
My face changed to a deep scarlet color. He’s right, maybe this is my fault. I am a terrible girlfriend. I know he cheated, but I feel like this is different.
I sighed in defeat.
“Just tell me, no promise me that you won’t do it again.” I said, my voice and eyes blooming with hope.
“I promise.” He sweared solemnly.
I stuck my pinky out towards him. I glanced up at Ron and he looked very confused.
“It’s a muggle thing,” I realized as soon as I said it. “Trust me with this,” I continued. “It’s less harmful than the Unbreakable Vow, but it signifies the same thing to muggles.” I finished with a grin on my face.
Ron stuck his pinky out in resonance and I looped mine around his.
“What the bloody hell do you call that?!” he asked, laughing.
“It’s called a pinky promise.” I simply stated, also laughing.
“Now,” I started, my voice continuing to lighten the mood “ Let's get you packed, and before you ask, no, I don’t need to know where you were last night.”
He smiled and nodded.
