Sorting Marvel Superheroes into Hogwarts Houses!

Chapter 1

Sorting Marvel Superheroes into Hogwarts Houses!

After being a Marvel fan for over a year, I decided that sorting the Marvel heroes into Hogwarts houses would seem fun. Be aware, there are spoilers. I couldn’t wait to do this as an article, and if you have any ideas for Marvel villain sortings, owl me! So first up we have the Gryffindors.

Gryffindors:

Captain Marvel. She is extremely courageous, always fighting to do what she thinks is right and battling to save innocent people. She fits right in as a Gryffindor.

Black Panther. T’Challa would go the extra mile just to protect his people and his home. Like some of the other heroes, he has a bit of everything in him that can give reason to sort him into any of the Hogwarts Houses. When he gets challenged by M’Baku, T’Challa defeats him but spares his life. T'Challa may have shown his enemy who the true ruler is, but in the end he wouldn’t want to hurt anyone to the point of death.

Wasp. The Wasp may have the intelligence of a Ravenclaw, and the loyalty/patience of a Hufflepuff, but there is no doubt that this heroine is a die-hard Gryffindor. She repeatedly saves all members of her team, including her father and Scott (Ant-man) and even though her father abandoned her during a tough time, she continued to work with him for the greater good.

Drax. Drax's reason for what he does is revenge: his family is dead because of Thanos/Ronan and he wants to get back at him. But then, he seems to be more interested in protecting his newly found friends. In both cases, Drax is willing to give up his own life for the cause which is always incredibly noble.

Star-Lord. Peter is brave enough to do risky things, and he cares about his family and friends, but he also understands that he needs to save the galaxy (even if the "only" reason why he wants to do it is that he lives in that galaxy).

Yondu Udonta. He may seem like a Slytherin, but he’s the complete opposite. He loves his adopted son who he was supposed to give up to Ego but kept for himself because he simply couldn't bear to lose him. He is also brave enough to stand by his word and doesn't let his team manipulate him (until they eventually overpower him). He even sacrifices himself at the end and gets an extremely beautiful but sad space funeral.

Slytherin:

Captain America. This sorting was hard. Captain America could be such a Slytherin. He doesn't earn his way into the military in his first movie, he makes sure he gets his way in with fake paperwork. But he can also be a Gryffindor. He is a great leader, and there isn't a more patriotic Avenger out there than someone who has their own country’s name in their “codename” or alter ego’s title. Sometimes you just can’t trust him. Everything he does seems to be for Bucky. He literally put his personal loyalty to Bucky over the Avengers! Owl/message me the vote for Captain America: Slytherin or Gryffindor? The next article I write, I’ll announce the votes.

Iron man. Tony Stark is definitely a Slytherin, in my opinion. He’s definitely ambitious, achievement-oriented, and a bit of a narcissist. He also makes a good leader, all of which are Slytherin traits. He reacts to situations very quickly. He's not fighting because it's the right or smart thing, or because the world needs him. He's fighting for his people, like Pepper Potts, Morgan, and Peter Parker.

Quicksilver. Pietro Maximoff sadly is only in Avengers: Age of Ultron, after sacrificing himself to save Hawkeye. He has a certain slyness, coldness and a lack of empathy in his character that would make him one of the students in Slytherin House. Pietro is quite an arrogant character. He’ll act out of anger right from the start. He acts before he thinks which is why he is much more of a Slytherin than any other house. But remember, these are not the only traits of Slytherin.

Scarlet Witch. When everyone was first introduced to her, her biggest priority was her brother. Then when Quicksilver is eliminated, she didn’t have a focus until she grew closer to Hawkeye and Vision. Later she has the choice to stop Thanos, but it also meant killing Vision. That keeps a huge tenet of Slytherin philosophy: your people are your people and you do not harm your people, even if it means the world burns for it.

Gamora. She doesn't seem like a Slytherin and you could potentially place her both in Ravenclaw and in Gryffindor. On the other hand, she does fit the Slytherin criteria (cunning, ambitious and achievement-oriented) more than anything else. She also values freedom and knows how to act independently from others.

Hufflepuff:

Hawkeye. His whole “thing” is that he's going to be there for the people who need him most. Hawkeye really embodies the traditional Hufflepuff spirit of hard work. Keep in mind, he's a dad with a weapon from medieval times keeping up with super soldiers, billionaire geniuses, super-spies and more. That's dedication.

Thor. While he'd probably also fit in really well with the Gryffindors, he's
a Hufflepuff because of his motivations. He's a good fit for Hufflepuff House because his whole journey has been about realizing that he's more than his hammer and more than his Asgardian heritage, and it's that quality that allows him to be such a good protector of Midgard.

Black Widow. She's adaptable like a Slytherin, but to be honest, the reasons why she does things are explained by a Hufflepuff mindset. She doesn't join the side of good for ambition, she does it because she wants to wipe out her 1red ledger and serve the people.

Spider-Man. Ok, I think we all saw this coming a mile away. He's even known as the “Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” and the friendliest house in Hogwarts is Hufflepuff! He’ll stop whatever he's doing to save a friend or support them in whatever situation they're in. He's shown his loyalty to Tony Stark time and again ever since we first met him Captain America: Civil War.

Falcon. I would put him in Hufflepuff because of his loyalty to Steve; he outright says that he will do whatever Steve is going to do more than once. If not Hufflepuff, then maybe Gryffindor.

Groot. This actually sorting is for both the adult Groot and his "son" who is first a child and then a teenager. All of them seem to have pretty much the same personality: friendly, life-loving, and childishly curious.

Mantis. She seems to be an obvious Hufflepuff thanks to (kind of like Groot), her bubbly personality, friendliness, and childlike curiosity that she doesn't lose even in the hardest of situations.

Ant-man. While Scott may have landed himself in prison more than once, both times were done so to help the 'little guy' and never with malicious intent, making him a goofy Robin Hood of Marvel. He loves his family deeply, but that, unfortunately, won't stop him from making some questionable decisions if somebody else he cares about is in harm's way.

Ravenclaw:

Bruce Banner/Hulk. Even though Hulk is probably Gryffindor, I’m focusing on the human part of him, Bruce Banner. He himself is a rather soft, intellectual man. Banner is an extremely talented scientist and all about the pursuit of knowledge, making him a Ravenclaw.

Doctor Strange. He values and enjoys knowledge and learning and seems to be in constant search of wisdom. His decisions always seem to be rational and very well thought out.

Shuri. She has a charismatic and funny personality, but her entire goals in life revolve around learning and the pursuit of knowledge. This fact makes her very much a Ravenclaw. As the one of the smartest people in the MCU, it’s hard to imagine her anywhere else.

Rocket. Though Rocket's smug remarks and general rudeness to most people he meets could make him a small, but very angry Slytherin, this raccoon is, in fact, a Ravenclaw even if he tries to hide this some of the time. His quick wit, inventive mind, and extensive knowledge of pretty much everything makes him a definitive Ravenclaw.

Sorry if I didn’t include the other Marvel superheroes/Avengers, there’s too many to include! Please note that this is just my opinion!

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed!

Footnotes:

1: Black Widow’s “red ledger” either means she owes someone a debt, or that she's killed many people.
