Riding Goldsweep

Chapter 1
MEADOW'S POV:

As I walked with my beautiful horse, Goldsweep, braiding her long, white hair with gold threads, I thought about many things. I thought about how the woods that surrounded us seemed so rocky and steep. I thought about how the wind seemed to whistle and dance. Most importantly, I thought about my parents.
Now, you may be thinking, why would a 15 year-old girl like me be walking in the woods alone? I don't have parents. At least, I don't think I do. You see, my whole life I've wondered how and why I don't live with my parents. I live with my grandparents, even though they no such resemblance to me.
It was the evening, and I heard some thunder overhead. I climbed aboard Goldsweep. "Run girl, run!" and my extraordinary horse dashed the other way, toward my cottage of a home. I got some rain on my fare skin, but not all of it was rain. It was tears, mixed with sweat, mixed with rain. But as I got closer to my home, and heard the upbeat music from the cottage, I smiled foolishly.
"Darling! Oh Meadow, I'm so glad you came home! I was so worried about you!" my grandma exclaimed, turning the music down. She brushed the water off my face, and ran her hands through my dark wavy brown hair. "Stop worrying about your parents." I stopped smiling. Who did she think she was? I mean, sometimes I wonder if she loved her children! But I wasn't worried for long. For today was the Masquerade Ball.
As night wandered around, I was getting ready. I wore a dark silk green dress, up to my knees. My hair was up in a bun, a small white tiara accessorizing it. I wore a small white laced purse. I was ready, but not yet. I put a dash of pink on my lips. My grandma came in. "You're perfect. More than perfect."that was the problem. I didn't want to be perfect. But it was too late now to change back. I put on my white lace eye mask.
"Come on Goldsweep, let's go!", I said, getting on her back, charging toward the Ball.
