In her eye

Chapter 1
Divination was never a subject that I aspired to take. Or rather I was steered clear by my uncle who thought it was “tom foolery” and opted for Ancient Runes instead. The teacher however for Divination was a seer by the name of Sybill Trelawney, a descendant of Cassandra Trelawney. She had no children and was seperated from her husband as I understand it because she refused to take his last name, I have a feeling it was for to do with her forseeing something.

She had a liking for telling classes that someone was going to die. Professor Trelawney has very thick glasses, is incredibly clumsy and always dressed in mismatched muggle clothes. Very rarely did you see her in robes of any kind.

She worked and lived at Hogwarts from around 1980. Coincidentally how she did not see me for what I was is a mystery to us all. She also worked for the ministry of magic at some point but I am uncertain of the dates.
Seers are gifted individuals that possess the “third-eye” this enables them to see through the realms and look beyond. I would have thought that the “third eye” is nonsense but I have been in need of her assistance on several occasions when I was doing human transfiguration. I was trying to transfigure myself into another person when I got… stuck. Her third eye was able to see me and she couldn’t understand why others were not seeing me. In the end it took the combined efforts of Professors Trelawney and McGonagall to get me out.

In 1996 she became the first of the teachers under Umbridge’s new laws to be dismissed however she was never fully banished from the castle. She had her old office and when that became unavailable, she was given shelter in Arber, who made her feel quite at home. She was finally reinstated once the… (trying to use nice words) … High Inquisitor was made redundant.

As the years went on, she continued her “calling” to impart her knowledge on the students of Hogwarts. I think she found this very difficult once Professor Dumbledore was gone and Professor Snape was made Headmaster. Her life was not easy during this last year. The Muggle Studies teacher was murdered but being a seer, she had her unseen uses, magic that was too good to waste, is how I think I phrased it.

Her life has passed by as smoothly and slightly less traumatically since then. Teaching, and being a guide and advisor to many people over the years. A wonderful woman.
