Chapter 3
I receive a letter from the French army. Have I been found myself? Are they going to take me away and join in the fight with those dirty Germans. I look at that paper for while. I can see the blood and tears the war have brought to us. There is no used in hiding any more. Sooner or later I will have to fight.
I was deported just like my son. I hope I can fight with the French than against them. The war was hungry for more. I kiss my daughter in law and walk a slow pace out the gate. I didn't look back. I don't want to see her cry for me.
My heart is heavy. But I must be strong. It's time for me to leave and go to Saint Mihiel. I was one, just any other that was drafted to serve the military. I don't know what will happen. I hope I can survive through this.
