Chapter 3
YEAR 1 1990-1991:
Good Luck to all those going to start in September. Don’t worry they start you off easy.
I was so glad that I had been prepared in some way for what was going to happen, but I was just as nervous as everyone else starting in their first year.
I was taking the standard eight subjects. Astronomy, which is very different when taught by a human, Charms, Defence against the Dark Arts, Flying, which I’d never actually done just watched from afar, Herbology, History of Magic, Potions and Transfiguration. It was the first time that I was actually allowed to use magic with my wand and not be worried I may get in trouble.
YEAR 2 1991-1992:
I did well in my second year. I continued with the same lessons as the year before and to be honest, other than the essays I was now writing it was a lot less work. I had passed my exams to get into the second year so that made my uncle proud.
YEAR 3 1992-1993:
For those of you that don’t know, your third year is when you start taking extra curricular courses. Some people choose to go the extra mile. Some people have no decision in what they do and some just co with their gut instinct. I chose to go with: Ancient Runes, because I was good at languages and it was at the right time. Care of Magical Creatures, because I already had a head-start in that area. Music, because it had helped me when I was little so it might be useful now and finally Muggle Studies. This may seem odd for someone like me but I was keen to understand the reasons why Tom Riddle had hated muggles so much and to learn to live around them with ease. I did, at the time live in Cokeworth which was full of muggles and both my grandfathers are muggles. I was curious. Otherwise our other classes stayed the same with the exception of Professor Lockhart taking over as Defence against the Dark Arts teacher. It was also the year that I was able to start taking my OWLs and my NEWTs in Transfiguration. I scored O in both.
