Potterheads: Who They Are and How to Become One
Have you ever told someone you are a huge Harry Potter fan, but didn’t know a word to describe that? Well, there’s actually a great and wonderful word that I use all the time to describe myself. That word is: POTTERHEAD.
A Potterhead is, you guessed it, someone who is a huge Harry Potter fan, like me!
Funnily, if you search up “Potterhead” this is what it says:
“Noun. Potterhead (plural Potterheads) (informal) One who loves the Harry Potter series of books, especially to a fanatical degree.” (from Wiktionary)
Wikipedia actually has a definition of it!!
I use this word all the time to describe myself. If someone asks me to tell them more about me, I will always include that I am a huge Potterhead!
Potterhead is a super useful term for HP lovers!!
Now, there is a difference between just people who like Harry Potter and people who are Potterheads.
People who like Harry Potter are just people who like Harry Potter. They’ve read the books and they like books. But they aren’t obsessed with HP and they aren’t die-hard fanatics. Potterheads are die-hard HP fanatics who LOVE Harry Potter. Most likely, they do or want to have a bunch of Harry Potter merchandise. And they have most likely read the Harry Potter books more than once. I myself am reading the series now for the 4th time!
If you don’t know to consider yourself a Potterhead, here is how to become one! Or you could think of this as a bunch of things you need to check off to call yourself a Potterhead!!! These are just some steps that are obviously optional. To be a Potterhead, you simply just have to love Harry Potter.
1. Read the Books (more than once!)
Obviously, to become a Potterhead, you need to have read all the Harry Potter books! But more importantly, most Potterheads have read the Harry Potter books more than once. If you want to really earn the title of a Potterhead, you should read the Harry Potter books more than once! You probably have a set of all the books! You don’t have to read these books, but for extra credit, you can read the Cursed Child script and the Fantastic Beasts screenplay!
2. Get sorted into your Hogwarts House
You have to get sorted into your house to be a Potterhead! If someone asks you what house you’re in, you’ve got to answer! The best and most accurate place to get sorted is on Pottermore, so if you want to become a Potterhead and get sorted most accurately, use Pottermore!
3. Watch the movies
If you’ve read the HP books, you can’t say you’re a Potterhead just yet! You need to watch all of the Harry Potter movies!! You can watch them all right after each other for an HP marathon if you’d like, but if you want some sleep, then you don’t have to! Extra credit if you watched the Cursed Child play or watched the Fantastic Beasts movies!
4. Go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios
I know that not everyone may be able to do this, so this is kind of optional, but going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios is a must for an HP fan! The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios has two locations in the US: Hollywood and Orlando. It also has other locations around the world including Japan and Singapore, but the heart of Universal Studios is in the US. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a great place to go, with great shops, merch, rides, and more! All HP fans need to go here at least once!
5. Buy Harry Potter merch!
Buy some cool Harry Potter themed merchandise! This can be clothing (robes, scarf, tie), accessories (earrings, bracelets, necklaces), and much more (wands, books, etc.)! This will show others how much you love Harry Potter. You could even have an HP themed room!
6. Know your Harry Potter Trivia
To be a Potterhead, it’s best if you know your HP trivia! Have you memorized some famous quotes that the characters in HP said? Have you memorized 50 spells and what they do? Knowing Harry Potter facts and trivia is a great thing to become a Potterhead or if you are one already! If you’re a Potterhead, most likely, you’ve done the hardest Harry Potter trivia quizzes, and hopefully, aced them!
Well, those are 6 ways to become a Potterhead! Remember, you don’t have to fulfill all of these things, these are just here for entertainment and if you really want to do these things, go right ahead! The only thing you need to fulfill to become a Potterhead is that you LOVE HARRY POTTER!

Polyjuice Potion
Polyjuice potion is one of the most remembered potions in the Harry Potter series. It is used to change one's appearance to the person who's part of the body is put into the potion. But enough of that! Let's get to the good stuff.
In Harry Potter, normally the part of the body the person chooses to put in the potion is a lock of their hair. But there are other ways, like using their dandruff, toenail clippings, or worse. But the least gross and probably easiest way is to use a lock of hair. The effect of Polyjuice potion is temporary, depending on how well it has been brewed, can last between ten minutes, to twelve hours.
There are many unique ingredients in polyjuice potion. Here are all of them: Lacewing flies, leeches, the horn of a Bicorn, knotgrass, flixweed, and Boomslang skin.
Polyjuice potion is a very difficult potion to make. Usually, only very highly skilled witches and wizards make it, so the fact that Hermione is able to make it on only her second year at Hogwarts, just shows how highly skilled Hermione is.

It is about a girl who is forgotten and who finally decides to go out into the open into a world of unlikely allies and scary enemies. It’s a spectacular book full of mystery and thrill. It is a must-read by Clover Turner! Clover Turner has also written many other books including “Clover Turner: My Story” and “The Thirteenth Hour” which are also amazing books! Be sure to check this book out!

Welcome to today’s fun fact that will wrap up this issue! Let’s dive right into it. In the Harry Potter movies, have you ever wondered who the people were in the moving portraits in the Hogwarts castle? Well, it turns out that these people are pretty important because the movie producers stood in for the Hogwarts moving portraits! Now next time you watch the movies, you can look at the moving paintings and you’ll know that they are movie producers in there! Wouldn’t it be so cool to be in one of those moving portraits?
