To HDN Interns
Chapter 2
Hi interns,
I wanted to say thank you to all of you who have written articles. We are so thankful for your help. Please read through this whole thing to ensure that you are caught up on these things that we want you all to know.
To be honest, you interns are doing more work than the official members in the HDN! We may have to ask some official members (not interns, don't worry!) to leave since they aren't doing that much. And if we do ask some members to leave, it gives you interns a better chance at becoming part of the official HDN when the time comes!
We are acknowledging all your hard work, and some of you have definitely earned a spot in the official HDN. We aren't transferring interns to the official HDN just yet, but we will shortly. Samantha and Kaela haven't been online, so I don't want to do the transfer until they are back online!
Those of you who have done even more than one article, we appreciate the extra work you put in to the HDN, and if you get accepted to the official HDN, we would value that extra hard work.
Most interns are doing a great job and are helping out a lot! We appreciate you! However, there are a few interns that are not doing anything, and I ask those people to leave, unless they can explain and want a second chance.
There is one other main thing I would like to adress: When using a website to help you write your article, make sure you put the link of the website you used.
Example:
(your article)
Credit/Source: (the link of the website you used)
We need to make sure you do this so we can credit the website you used to help you write your article.
Also, please make sure that the website you use is reliable. An example of a reliable website would be wizardingworld.com, because JK Rowling is writing the information in that website. I tend to stay away from Wikipedia because it may have false information.
If you need help finding a website to help you get information for an article, ask me, and I will try to find a reliable website for you to use.
Another thing I would like to address is that if you are using a website to help you write your article, make sure you are NOT COPYING THE WEBSITE WORD FOR WORD.
This means that you should not just copy and paste the website's article and then say you wrote it. I am not saying anyone has done this before, I just want to prevent it from happening in the future.
An easy way to make sure you don't do this (copy the website's article) is to put the information from the website into your own words. It doesn't matter if you use fancy words, just put the information into your own words while still keeping a slight professional tone. (But not too professional; jokes are always allowed!)
Also, try not to have any part of you article copied from the article from the website you are using, unless it is a quote that is in the article, for example.
As J.K. Rowling said "We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better."
If that quote was in a website, you can copy the quote word for word because it is a quote and not a writer's personal work.
