Chapter 5
Me and Ben went around Diagon Alley. Ben was basically giving me a tour. We bought an owl which I named Snow Bell. She was very pretty! Unlike the barn owl next to her.....
But now, it was my favorite part. Buying a wand.
"Alright, we have a customer for you Mr. Ollivander! Here is muggle-born first year witch, Miley Sanber.", Ben said, introducing me.
Ollivander eyed me up and down. Well, that was creepy! Then he said, "Oh! I know exactly what I should give you!", he ran up a big staircase, which was pretty good for his age I must say! He ran back down in a matter of seconds.
"Unicorn hair core, applewood, 13 inches, a swishy flexibility! Perfect for you! I don't think that pheonix core would work quite well for you", said Ollivanders, thinking. Then he told me to try to swish it to see if sparks come out. Nothing happened. "Hmm. Interesting. Maybe the pheonix core would work for you after all!", he said, turning around and picking up a box from the counter.
"Yes. Pheonix core, alder wood, 13 ½ inches, and again, swishy flexibility!", he gave it to me, and I swooshed it around, a little firework flew out! I felt like a real witch!
We gave the old guy some money, and turned around to Florrish and Blotts.
I looked at my Hogwarts school supply list. We sure needed a lot of textbooks!
I bought my Potion textbook, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and much more!
Next, we went to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions. I bought myself a Hogwarts robe! it fit perfectly on me!
When I bought all my things, Ben and I sat down on a bench nearby, to make sure I had everything, and to talk a little more about Hogwarts.
"In Hogwarts, there are four houses. Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Each house is named after Hogwarts' four founders. At Hogwarts, there is a sorting ceremony. It's when the first years put on a Hat, the Sorting hat, which reads your mind and thoughts and sees which house you were destined to be in. For Gryffindor, their daring, nerve and chivalry set Gryffindors apart. Ravenclaw's motto is, wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure. Then there's my house, Hufflepuff, those patient Hufflepuffs are true, and unafraid of toil. Then, well, Slytherin. No one comes out of Slytherin good. They all go bad. Slytherin will help you on your way to greatness. That's the motto. But I think you'll be fine.", said Ben, getting up and gesturing me to follow him.
