The Common room is located in the Ravenclaw Tower. It does not require a set password to gain access; Instead, one must answer a riddle in order to enter. If a student incorrectly answers the question, they must wait for another student to answer correctly.

Rowena was considered the most intelligent and beautiful Witch ever known. The long list of her achievements include the elaborate pattern of the famous Hogwarts moving staircases. It is also theorized that Rowena herself chose the location and name for Hogwarts because she, "dreamt that a warty hog was leading her to a cliff by the lake"
Rowena, and eventually the Sorting Hat, choses it's students based on their Intelligence and Wisdom. Henceforth Ravenclaw values a sharp mind, creativity, cleverness, and wit. Unfortunately, many students who posses these traits also have a tendency to be snobbish, and proud Thus earning the house a reputation for being so.
Rowena is also said to have enchanted her Diadem, to allow the wearer limitless knowledge and wisdom.
