Chapter 2
Well, looks like I’ve got mixed emotions today! The OMG THAT’S SO COOL side of me was starting to win the battle as I gazed outside and admired the colorful explosion of color.
Until I remembered my mom had a long list of errands and that if I didn’t finish them today… I would get grounded. My mom and dad were out on a vacation together, so it was just me (and my brother, but he was just playing video games, doing schoolwork, eating snacks, and all those things your older brother does.)
Great, I thought, rolling my eyes.
I set my alarm for another hour, thinking I could still get everything done if I woke up at 6:30, and started the chores at 7:00. Ugh. I would totally rather be working in my lab tinkering with things and inventing, and on that thought, I went to sleep (again).
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP BEEP!
I woke up and sat straight upright in my bed, startled.
“I will still never get used to that alarm…” I muttered under my breath, getting out of bed grudgingly.
As I got out of bed and stretched, I half-heartedly hoped for the possibility that it had stopped raining.
But no… of course not.
Bing. Boing. Bing. Bong.
That noise wasn’t so dissimilar from a bouncy ball though! The sound was a bit louder than when I first woke up.
Yay. I thought sarcastically. Well, at least it’s not a blizzard! Or a hurricane, my positive side argued with myself.
Well, maybe you don’t understand how hard it is to do errands in the rain! Or maybe you don’t understand that the rain is literally JELLY, I fought back with myself, silencing my head altogether.
I was so frustrated that I was going to have to do all these chores in JELLY RAIN that I accidentally tripped over a box of miscellaneous things (did I see a medallion?) and fell on the floor.
I grunted loudly, wincing as I felt a sharp stab of pain in my back.
“Arghhhh! I wish they made penicillin for this!” I mumbled.
