The Hippophile

Okay, the first thing you're probably thinking is, "What is a hippophile?" Well, I can tell you, of course. A hippophile means a horse lover, look it up for yourself. Anyway, I'm not going to tell you about the story - read and find out! Thanks - btw, if anyone likes my book, it would be a pleasure for you to say, because I love your feedback! Thanks again!

Mr. Thornley

Chapter 3
Freya was grumpy the next day. All day she sat on her hard bed. She didn't come down when Cook called her and Cook couldn't come up because Freya had locked the door. Then suddenly she heard a soft voice saying, "Hey, Freya, can I come in?" It was Rose speaking.
"Sure," said Freya. "But you're not with Cook, right?"
Rose laughed. "Of course not!"
Freya got up and unlocked the door. Rose came in. "You know, you should have something to eat," she said.
"Nah, I'm not really that hungry." Then suddenly Freya became excited. "You know, we could see Alezan again!"
"No no, Freya, don't do that!" Rose exclaimed.
"Why not?"
"Because Mr. Vengot might find out."
"I doubt it."
"Anyway, you can't get out of the orphanage unless Miss Raven or Mr Vengot and the others say," said Rose.
"We could go at night," said Freya.
"Everything locked up at nightfall," said Rose.
"Unless I sneaked out of my window." Freya grinned.
"Okay, as if you're actually going to do that," said Rose.
"I am!" said Freya.
Just then they heard Cook calling.
"Well, you'd better come down," said Rose.
"Oh, fine," Freya gave in.

After breakfast, Freya heard some knocking at the orphanage door. Quietly she said to Miss Raven, "There's someone knocking."
Miss Raven briskly walked to the door and Freya heard her exclaim, "Ah, it you - I mean Mr. Thornley, come in, come in!"
Miss Raven entered the dining room with a man who had a beard and was wearing overalls and a dirty hat. For some reason, he smiled at Freya.
"Children, this is Mr. Thornley. He is a farmer and has come here to adopt one of you, children. And it is, Freya Goldworth."
Freya gasped and Rose stared at her, her mouth open.
"Come here, Freya!" called Miss Raven.
Freya stood up, her legs shaking. She didn't really want to leave the orphanage, but kind of did.
Mr. Thornley smiled kindly at Freya again. She looked at Rose, who still had her mouth wide open. Then she closed it and stood up and said, "Uh, Miss Raven, can I say goodbye to..." she paused and swallowed then continued. "To Freya? You see, she's my friend."
Miss Raven smiled and said, "Of course you may."
Rose slowly walked up to Freya and hugged her. "I'll miss you," Rose said. "But I'll be fine here. I guess I can make another friend. She smiled slightly.
"Oh, goodbye Rose!" said Freya. "I think I will see you again!"
When Rose had sat back down at the table, Mr. Thornley said, "Thank you, Miss Raven. I think Freya will be a good help at the farm."
Miss Raven just smiled and then shook Freya's hand. "Goodbye, Freya," she said. "Hopefully we will see you again."
Freya nodded, and smiled. She took one last look at Rose, then she and Mr. Thornley left the orphanage.
