Chapter 7
I watched the thestrals fly away until they were nothing more than black specks in the sky. "So, are we just going to apparate to Azkaban?" I asked. Luna nodded, "But, what are we gonna do when we get there?"
Luna thought for a moment but it was Ron who answered, "I guess we'll just have to wing it, mate." He said.
We all took each other's hands and apparated. It felt like being squeezed through a tiny rubber tube, like always. I could suddenly breath again, I opened my eyes and saw that we were standing beside a violent ocean. I looked behind me but all there was to see was a forest. "Where's Azkaban?" Harry asked.
Malfoy pointed far out at sea, a fortress was just barely visible through the sea spray and the high waves. "Why didn't we apparate there? Why're we here?" Ron asked. "Because, Azkaban has similar enchantments to those that Hogwarts has. You can't apparate at Azkaban, in or out." Hermione explained.
"Does that mean we have to... swim?" I asked nervously, Azkaban looked very far away. "No, look! There are boats." Ginny said, pointing to two small boats, much like the ones we traveled across the black lake with in our first year.
Ginny, Ron, and Harry sat in one boat while Malfoy, Luna, Hermione and I squeezed into the other. We didn't need to row, the boats moved on their own. I was sure that we would be thrown off the boats by the violent waves, but the boats sailed smoothly over them.
"We should start planning!" Hermione yelled over the storm to everyone, "How're we going to do that? I can hardly hear you!" Ron shouted back. "It's almost night! We'll probably have to sleep once we get there, we can plan after we wake up!" Harry suggested. "We can't sleep! We have to save Makayla!" Luna added to the argument. "We'll be too tired to save our own necks, let alone your friend! We have to get some sleep if we want to be successful!" Ginny yelled.
Though she looked resentful, Luna agreed. I looked straight ahead but Azkaban didn't seem to be getting any nearer. "Are you sure we can't apparate there?" I asked loudly. "You try and see what happens!" Hermione snapped.
We sat in silence for what felt like hours. "How long have we been on these boats?" Ron shouted, "4 hours, I've been keeping track." Malfoy replied. Ron groaned, Azkaban still didn't look any nearer than it did on the beach, though, I couldn't see the beach anymore.
