Chapter 4
Neville looked nervous, I couldn't blame him, my own hands were shaking. "Who might this young friend be?" Umridge asked in a girly voice. "Makayla Carson." I replied, my voice unwavering. Umbridge's smile widened, "Oh, let me just... look through some files I have here. I'm assuming that you think I know something about this girl, so I would clearly have a file on her." Umbridge said, giving a small, fake chuckle. She made quite a scene of looking through a mountain of files that were stacked neatly on her desk. "Gryeback..." She gave another fake little laugh, "Well, he's dead. Lupin..." She laughed again, this time louder, "He's dead as well." I saw Harry step forward, but Ginny held out a hand to stop him. "Conderoy... yes, we've got him. Princeton, yes she's got I nice roomy cell in Azkaban." Umbridge seemed to be muttering all of this to herself, but she wasn't bothering to keep her voice down. I'm sure she just wanted to impress on us how "Important" her job is.
"Ahh! Carson! Makayla Carson, yes?" Umbridge said, smiling widely. "Yes." I said coldly. "Yes, yes, well, I can't let her go. You see, you might not have know, but your friend here, is a werewolf." She said, giving us what she must have thought was a pitying look. "We knew," I said, "How can you just go around telling everyone these people's most horrible secrets?" I continued angrily. Umbridge's big fake smile seemed to slide off of her face, "Because the people deserve to know! These dirty half-breeds deserve to be locked up!" She said, mimicking my angry tone. "NO THEY DON'T! THEY'RE NOT HALF-BREEDS! THEY WEREN'T BORN THIS WAY! THEY WERE BITTEN! Makayla takes wolfsbane potion! Do you think that these people enjoy turning into werewolves? DO YOU THINK THEY WANT TO KILL PEOPLE?" I screamed, hoping that she wouldn't mention Greyback.
Umbridge stood up, though she was so short that it hardly made a difference. "I don't like to be yelled at in my own office." She said, her face flushing with anger. "Well we would be happy to take this into the hall. Maybe then others could hear how horrible you are!" Ginny said, with an air of pleasantness though she was staring daggers at Umbridge whom looked worried. "No, no. It's quite all right if we keep it in here. We would't like to disrupt the peace of my colleagues." She said airily and sat back down. "But I cannot release her." Umbridge said suddenly, she waved her wand and the door flew open. "Have a good day." She said in a sugary voice a gust of wind, much like an invisible arm, pushed us out of the door which slammed in our faces.
