Chapter 2
A unicorn had wandered into the Hogwarts grounds. It bent down for a bit of grass, but its attention turned to the castle. Hogwarts was quieter than the night. The well-lit castle was now as dim as the sky itself. Ghosts were roaming around the corridors, Peeves taking care of his usual mischief. Jack stood between Peeves and the Gryffindor Common Room, his legs shaking with fear. The Fat Lady was now in the portrait right next to her, filled with fear. Jack stared at the space in front of him. Something black. Burnt. Unidentifiable. It was too late after Jack realised what it was. A body. A burnt, dead body. Jack looked at Peeves, suspecting if he did this. But Peeves wouldn't go that far. Peeves were giving the body a disgusted look, but the disgust soon turned into fear. He slowly fell towards the ground, fading, and soon disappeared into nothing. " Mr Rotterdam?", came McGonnagal's voice. " What is- Oh my god!". McGonnagal was shaking. Prof. Longbottom and Flitwick were behind her. " Jac- What happened?", Longbottom said, his voice cracking. " I do not know sir. I saw this right now.", Jack said, trembling. He looked at the ghosts and the professors. His heart was racing. His first instinct was to run to the common room, and so he did. Jack took off at high speed, his eyes full of tears. His mind was somewhere else, but he reached the common room safely. " Tell me this is a dream.", he said to himself and punched his face. A tear fell from his cheek, disappointment filling him. " Peeves.", Jack shouted with widened eyes, straightening his posture. He looked around him, scanning for the poltergeist. He was nowhere to be seen. Jack ran towards the Great Hall, panting and exhausted, hoping he would find Peeves there.
