The First Quidditch Match
Chapter 7
The week that followed went by very quickly because I was thinking about Zac and looking forward to the first Quidditch Match of the season. Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw. I got plenty of homework that was do the next week, but I got that done too. I always did my homework right next to Zac. I think Lizzy was getting jealous, but I fixed that saying that she was my best friend and no boy would come between us.
That Saturday, Lizzy and I were talking about our Quidditch Match in a couple of hours, when Charity came running upstairs. She said, "Zac wants to see you. Both of you." I got the fluttery feeling as I walked with Lizzy to the common room. Zac was waiting there for us. He said, "Percy wants us on the Pitch in 5 minutes for some extra practice." "OK," Lizzy said, and we both rushed upstairs and got our broomsticks and Quidditch robes.
We got to the Pitch when Percy started talking. "OK, so, we are putting in some extra practice because Ravenclaw is looking good this year. But I have no doubt in my mind that we are the better team. Got it? OK, lets go." We all kicked off from the ground. Percy had the Chasers try and get the Quaffle past him on one end, while the two Beaters practiced hitting the Bludgers through the hoops on the other end. I was still looking for the Snitch.
After Zac got a Quaffle past Percy with ease, I spotted the Snitch. It was on the Beaters' side of the field circling around the bottom of the pole of the middle hoop. I went into a full out dive, caught the Snitch in my hand, and pulled out from the dive while circling the pole. Percy was amazed at how fast I found and caught the Snitch. We had time to do the whole thing again. This time, I caught the Snitch even faster.
Ravenclaw players arrived on the Pitch with the Ref., Professor Potter. The stands around the Pitch filled with students from all four Hogwart's Houses. All players stood mounted on their brooms. "GO!" Professor Potter yelled. All the balls were released and the players kicked off from the ground. I flew to the top of the Pitch and circled, looking for the Snich.
About 7 minutes into the game, with the score 60-30 Gryffindor, I spotted the Snitch. It was hovering below Percy as he waited for the Quaffle to come his way. I also saw the Ravenclaw Seeker looking at me. He was waiting for me to see the Snitch so that he could follow and get there first.
I went into a dive and saw the other seeker get right behind me and follow. I was diving towards Ravenclaw's Keeper instead of Percy. Then, I saw a Bludger coming straight at me from the front. At the last second, I pulled up from the dive and the Bludger hit the Ravenclaw Seeker square in the face. I heard cheers from the Gryffindor section. The Seeker was knocked out and started to fall. He fell right on the Ravenclaw Keeper, right where I was diving. They both fell from the sky and the cheers grew even louder.
I zoomed towards Percy and nabbed the Snitch before it could get away. The game was over and Gryffindor won! Percy congratulated us and we went back to the common room to celebrate. We drank Butter-Beer and ate pastries and sweets and talked about how awesome my fake dive was. We also congratulated Zac for making 50/60 of Gryffindor's points. And Lizzy's hits were amazing. She hit the other team's Beater in the jaw.
An hour into celebrations, Zac grabbed me by the hand and led me to the Special Place. I pretended like I was surprised when he showed me the carving in the tree. We sat, holding hands and me leaning on him, by the lake again. I think I dozed off while leaning on him because I woke up with my head on him laying down. His hand was sitting on top of my hand. I realized I was hungry, so we walked up to the Great Hall.
We ate silently while holding hands under the table. When I got back to my dorm room, I told all the girls what happened. They all started teasing me about my "boyfriend". "So, are you guys dating yet?" Hannah asked. "No," I admitted. "You're so lucky. Zac is such a cutie!" Ginny said. "I know right?" I said. "Are you guys snogging yet?" Charity teased. "Charity!" I said.
We talked about Zac and boys until I told them goodnight. I slept and dreamed that Zac and I were snogging.
