Chapter 5
I awoke to the sound of scuffling. I looked around and saw Lizzy pulling her broom out of her trunk. "Sorry I woke you," she apologized. "It's fine," I say. I look around and see that the other girls are gone. Probably at breakfast already. I look at the time and see that it is 10:00 in the morning! Quidditch try-outs are in an hour! I quickly snatch my broom and walk down the stairs with Lizzy.
I see Zac in the Common room and I call him over. "You wanna practice a little before try-outs?" I ask him. "Really? Sure!" he answers. He runs upstairs and comes back down with his broom. I see a piece of tape on the end of the broom and him stuffing a picture of a girl in his pocket. He looks at me a turns away blushing. I pretend like I didn't notice.
We go outside and walk down to the Quidditch Pitch. We hop on our brooms and start flying around. Zac found a box with the balls inside of it and let the Snitch out. It flew around a bit, them zoomed away. I closed my eyes so I didn't know where it was. Then I opened my eyes. Zac had given Lizzy a bat and grabbed the quaffle. I started searching and a couple minutes later, I caught a glimpse of the Snitch. I flew after it and had it in my hands a couple seconds later.
"WOW!" Zac and Lizzy both said. Then I heard clapping from down below. I looked down. A boy I have never seen before was staring in awe at me. I flew down to him and dismounted my broom perfectly. "What's your name?" he asked. "Um, Marietta Elphick," I answered. "I'm Percy Bubly," he said, "I'm the Quidditch Captain, and the team's Keeper. Welcome to the team!" he said.
Zac and Lizzy joined us on the ground. "Wait, I'm on the team? As the Seeker?" I asked. "Yes," he answered. Then he turned to Zac. "I saw your speed and handling," he said, "you're a Chaser. And you," he said looking at Lizzy, "you have good potential, but I need to see you actually hit the Bludger." "Ok," Lizzy said, "I'll aim for the big hoop." Percy let the Bludger out and Lizzy smacked it so hard, you could barely see it. But there was no doubt that it went through the big hoop. "OK, you're all on the team!" Percy shouted.
We got to skip the actual try-outs, so we went to the Common room and celebrated. We drank Butter-Beer and ate Chocolate Frogs 'till we were stuffed. We just hung out in the common room and talked until 6:00. Then we went to dinner in the Great Hall.
The ceiling showed a forget-me-not blue sky with a bright sun. We ate very little because we were full from earlier. We went to our own dormitories. But before Zac went up the stairs, when he thought I was already gone, he pulled the picture out from his pocket. It was me. I felt so happy. I went to bed dreaming about me and Zac.
