The Sorting Hat
Chapter 3
Once the boats stopped, everyone hopped out and followed the gamekeeper to the HUGE front doors. She said, "You will all get into a single-file line and wait untill your name is called." We all nodded and she opened the doors. We all lined up. I was in front of Lizzy and behind Zac. We walked in to the huge rooms. I looked all around and saw four long tables filled with older students. Then I looked up and saw stars where a roof should have been. Then I remembered that the ceiling was enchanted to look like the sky outside.
I stared at the perfect head of hair in front of me until a teacher carried a stool with a hat on it to the front of the room. She said, "When I call your name, you will come sit on the stool, and place the Sorting Hat on your head." She called, "Alwry, John." He walked up to the stool, put the hat on his head, and waited. After about a minute of consideration, the hat yelled, "RAVENCLAW!" This went on for a while until the teacher said, "Elphick, Marietta!"
I slowly walked to the front of the room and put on the hat. Almost at once, the hat called out, "GRYFFINDOR!"
I was so happy! I strolled over to one of the tables and sat down. Lizzy and Zac both were in Gryffindor too. All at once, the stool and hat were gone, and the plates in front of us filled up with food! After everyone was stuffed with turkey and mashed potatoes, desserts appeared.
Everyone filed out of the Great Hall when dinner was over. Zac, Lizzy, and I walked to the Gryffindor common room together. Then, Lizzy and I went up the stairs to the girls' dormitories and Zac went to the boys'. When I got to the dormitory room, I found five, four-poster beds. Lizzy and I chose two beds right next to each other.
Three girls walked into the room after us. One of them had red hair and freckles. She introduced herself as Hannah Knight. Another had long, golden hair and light blue eyes. Her name was Ginny Scamander. The last girl had shoulder-length brown hair and she was kinda short. This girl is Charity Burbage.
We all talked about what we were most excited about until we couldn't talk any longer. I lied down and felt my eyelids drooping. They finally closed and I felt myself flaoting away into a dream.
