Zac's Point of View
Chapter 10
It's been two hours since Mari left for detention. She should be back by now. I'm starting to get worried as it slowly turns 11:00. Something must have happened to her. Professor Mishan would not keep her this late. I find Lizzy dozing off in an armchair waiting for Mari too.
"Lizzy!" I gently shake her arm. "Wake up." "I'm awake," she says yawning, "Is Mari back yet?" "No," I tell her. "We have to go find her," I say. Lizzy and I run down the hallway to Professor Mishan's classroom. But Professor Potter stops us. "Why are you guys out of bed?" he demanded. "Our friend went to detention at 8:30. She isn't back yet!" Lizzy said. "8:30! It's nearly 11:30!" Professor Potter said, "Who did she have detention with?" "Professor Mishan!" Zac answered.
All three of us burst into Professor Mishan's classroom. She looked up from filing papers in a cabinet. "Yes?" she asked. "Where's Marietta?" Zac asked. "Marietta? Oh, I sent her back two hours ago!" Professor Mishan answered, "Didn't she arrive?" "NO!" Zac and Lizzy both yelled. "Well, did you ever think she could be back by now?" Professor Mishan asked.
Oh. She was probably lost and got back by now. "OK you two, go to bed, if she's not there, we will search for her tomorrow," Professor Potter said. "But--" I started. "Now!" he said. Lizzy and I walked back to the common room. Lizzy looked in the dorm room. "She's not there," Lizzy said. "Well, we'd better get some sleep then," I said sadly.
The next morning Zac awoke to, "Zac? Zac!? ZAC!" "What?" I asked. "Someone wants to see you in the common room." "Thanx Jack," I said. I ran downstairs and saw Mari standing there.
