Day 2 of the Arena

Chapter 17
I wake up early the next morning. The sun is still rising. Apparently I have good balance because I haven't fallen out the tree. Yet. Cato is on guard at the moment. Clove starts to wake and smiles when she sees Cato. She calls his name and he turns around. She rises and walks over to him. Somehow she looks perfect. Not like a murderous, bloodthirsty, killer child. Cato hugs her and whispers something in her ear. Slowly, everyone around them starts to rise. Clove backs away from Cato and sharpens her knives. The Career pack talk for a while before standing up. They pack up some stuff and stick things into bags. Then they walk into the forest. Off to hunt some tributes. Now is my chance to steal some of their supplies. I climb down the tree looking for anyone nearby. When I'm sure nobody is there, I creep towards the Cornucopia. Just before I get there, I realise I need a plan. I can't take a huge amount of one thing or they will know I've been there. If I take a little of a few different things, I can take as I please and they won't notice. I creep up and look around. There's no traps or anything to stop someone taking something. I sprint over to the stash of food. I grab a small bit of apple, cheese and bread. I grab a bag that's lying around on the floor and stuff the food into the bag. I run back to the safety of the forest. I breathe a sigh of relief because I'm not dead. I start climbing the tree but stop. This tree isn't going to be suitable for however long the Games go for. I decide to scout out a hideout. I don't know how big the arena is but I do know I need to stay closer to other tributes so that the Capitol is less likely to try and kill me. I mean they will anyway but the closer I'm to other people the more "violence" there will be. I'm not planning to kill but if it's me or them then I'm willing. I walk for a while. I walk for so long that is starts going dark. Then again, the Gamemakers can make it day or night as they please. Eventually, I find a small cave near the lake. I have a great view of the Cornucopia from here. I can see a corn maze far to my right. I grab some leaves and start covering them in mud. I stuck them around the front of the cave. The mouth of the cave is quite small so it's easy to cover. I wonder how many caves are in this arena. When I'm finally finished, it's very dark. I can barely see anything. I climb into the cave. I open the bag I took from the Careers and grab some food. I eat a small amount and put the rest back into the bag. I grab some moss from the back of the cave and lay it on the floor. I rest my head on it. I lie there for a while before I manage to fall asleep.
