My Wonderful Owner - Hermione Granger
Chapter 2
The girl took me out of the Magical Menagerie, and into the street. I was so relieved to be out of the shop that for a moment I neglected to observe my surroundings, but eventually I paid some attention to the atmosphere and cobbled road before me, my eyes bright and flashing with eagerness. I pricked my ears forward and snuggled into the girl's arms - she smiled, and stroked me affectionately again. I have never been an emotional cat but such happiness welled inside me at that moment, and I thanked my lucky stars that I was bought, and heading toward a good future. I had always inwardly feared that someone bad and with a terrible reputation would take me, for, despite my rather wild appearance, I was a proud and civil animal.
"I'm Hermione," the girl said, displaying her large teeth again as she smiled once more. "Crookshanks, is it? Perfect, it suits you."
I meowed, and rubbed against her. Then she quickened her pace as she headed towards the boys that had previously been with her could be distinguished ahead. They looked around, and I discerned a fierce and angry glare on the red headed one's face.
"You bought that monster?" The red headed boy ejaculated incredulously.
"He's gorgeous, isn't he?" Hermione replied, glowing.
"Hermione, that thing nearly scalped me!" The red headed boy shouted.
"He didn't mean to, did you, Crookshanks?" Hermione said, speaking to me. If I had been capable of responding I would have nodded. Instead, I merely continued to purr. I paid no attention to their argument, but kept feeling surges of happiness that I was this Hermione's pet. She was beautiful, and I could have wanted no other owner in the world.
