Hermione didn't know what to do. If she talked to Harry or Ron they would laugh at her or be angry. They were the only people she trusted. She couldn't talk to anyone. Then an idea formed into her mind....
Ginny.
Yes. She had told Ginny about what had happened at the lake. She could trust Ginny. Ginny was a friend. Ginny had good advice. Ginny wouldn't judge. Ginny would listen and know what to do.
But Ginny wasn't here. She wouldn't be here until tomorrow. Hermione needed consoling...now. She was sad now. Well, she had been made to wait before. She could survive a night without Ginny.
Ginny opened her mouth wide, her buttered toast forgotten in her hand.
"You kissed him?" she asked, revolted.
"Yes. Yes I did. Ginny, I don't know what to do. I-I think I'm in love with him. But that isn't the problem." Hermione explained what Lavender had said.
"Er-obliviate her?" Ginny suggested. Hermione considered this, but of course, she had never done it before and if it went wrong, something disastrous might happen.
"Look, the best advice I can give you is forget about him. If you don't seem threatened to Lavender, she won't use the information against you," Ginny said, glancing over to the Slytherin table, where Draco sat eating alone. "Though can you please explain why, in the whole wide school of boys, you fell for Draco Malfoy?"
Ginny was right in both parts. She had fallen for Draco Malfoy, the boy who had hurt her, the boy who had bullied her friends, permanently. And honestly, this worried her more than Lavender.
