"Er-hi," said Draco. He had had a speech in mind to tell her it was impossible for them to...well, it now disintegrated in his throat.
Hermione blushed furiously. "Hi," she said quickly. There was a pause. "Dracowillyoubemyboyfirend?" She rushed. There. She had said it. She would tell Lavender later, and the whole subject would be dropped.
"Er-sorry?" Draco asked. Oh no, thought Hermione. Please don't make me say it again, it was bad already that I said it once.
Hermione's face turned scarlet. "I was just saying-er-do you want to,er, be my,er, boyfriend?"
Draco's heart sank....Just when he was about to tell her it wasn't possible, she had to come and ask him to do it....
"Sorry, I can't. I-I don't feel...." Draco nearly died. He turned right around, without a backwards glance, and shut the door behind him.
Hermione was horrified. What could she tell Lavender now? She certainly couldn't try again, he had already said no. Now Lavender could do whatever she wanted with the information, threaten her, release it to the whole school for all to hear.....
Hermione turned on her heel and sped away.
