written by Lizzie Scamander

Has pictures inside, and a different font! Hazelpelt is a warrior in Windclan, and troubled by the strange trespassing Thunderclan cats, that continue to cross Windclan territory. And when she is summoned by Harestar she wonders if it is something to do with Thunderclan's suspicious behavior... I am doing this book on behalf of a group I joined, that primarily concerns Warrior Cats.

Noise In The Night

Chapter 3

The moon shone, illuminating the trees and creating their jagged shadows on the cold forest floor. Hazelpelt could not suppress her dominant impatience as she paced energetically back and forth, occasionally leaping into the lower boughs of the oak nearby. Ravenfur sat, sometimes pausing in his quiet musings to lick a paw or observe Hazelpelt's doings. Then a rustle to the right alerted them both, and they glanced attentively around.
Crowfeather stepped out of the darkness, his green eyes gleaming and his ears pricked forward. His grey-black form padded smoothly, soundlessly closer, until he was a mere foot away and halted. "Hazelpelt, Ravenfur," he said, in acknowledgement of the two. "I will escort you to where you will spy tonight. This way." He turned and led the way. Hazelpelt followed, Ravenfur behind her.
But they hadn't gone far when Crowfeather stopped abruptly, sniffing apprehensively.
"What is it?" Hazelpelt asked in hushed tones.
But Crowfeather didn't have a chance to reply. Before they knew it the orange animal was leaping out of the shadows, it's upper lip pulled back in a fierce snarl and it's threatening appearance causing Hazelpelt's fur to stand on end. "A fox!" She ejaculated, and leapt away to avoid the impact of the fox's weight. The fox narrowly missed her, and, snarling in frustration, it advanced menacingly, its yellow eyes gleaming as it greedily surveyed its prey. The fox jumped again, and Hazelpelt watched hopelessly as she saw it, growling, come down to her...

Ravenfur leapt forward with impressive bravery and raked his claws down the fox's pelt. The fox whined momentarily then rage replaced its pain and it snapped at Ravenfur.
"We need to run!" Crowfeather cried, amidst the commotion. "This way!" He dashed his claws across the fox's muzzle to distract it and, seizing this moment of the fox's lack of focus, Ravenfur darted after Crowfeather, Hazelpelt sprinting along behind them. With each time her paws collided with the ground, Hazelpelt felt her energy lessening. With each step she felt more and more like collapsing, but she pressed on, and accepted Crowfeather's encouragement gratefully - it increased her determination and helped her to keep going.
Finally Crowfeather stopped. "Is everyone all right?" He asked.
Hazelpelt nodded breathlessly.
"Yes," Ravenfur replied.
"Good. Ravenfur, you did well. Hazelpelt -" Crowfeather turned to Hazelpelt, who felt ashamed of her feeble defence against the fox, looked awkwardly down at her paws. Crowfeather paused, then said, "You didn't do your best, but I suppose you had the disadvantage as you were the fox's first target. I am just relieved none of you were seriously hurt. But we must continue, for we have wasted enough time already. Please follow me."
As Crowfeather turned Hazelpelt whispered to Ravenfur, "Thanks for saving me."
Ravenfur, naturally modest, declined the grateful words hastily. "I didn't do anything - even if I hadn't helped, you would have been able to fight the fox off."
"You heard what Crowfeather said," Hazelpelt said, keeping her eyes steadily averted.
"Don't take that badly, Hazelpelt, you know what he's like," Ravenfur reassured her.
Crowfeather looked sharply around. "Less noise, please," he said. "We're nearing the border between Thunderclan and Windclan."
They proceeded, silence dominating. Then Crowfeather stopped. "Here I leave you," he said. "Be careful, and stay around the edges of the territory. Watch out for patrols. Return to the Windclan camp at dawn. Good bye for now." Then he turned and vanished into the night.
