When I was elected to Gryffindor house, I thought it was cool, but... I also like the Slytherin house.
When I told that to my friends they told me:

-A Gryffindor who likes Slytherin?! Ew, that's impossible!

And I was like:

-Yeah, I'm a Griffindor who loves Slytherin! So what?

I'm a very open minded person and I hate when people say those type of things.
All my life I have seen the HATE to the Slytherin members and the Slytherin house in general, and that is awfull. A.W.F.U.L.L.
Even here, in Hogwarts online, I have seen some groups who accept Hufflepuff, Gryffindor and Ravenclaw but SLYTHERIN NOT. And in the description it says:
"To have FUN"

I mean... SERIOUSLY?

I respect others opinion, and if they think Slytherin sucks, well, that's their problem! Not mine!
