Herbology notes chamber:
1. categorizing plants: (this is from lesson 8)
moonlight:
When a plant falls into this category, it needs reflected light rather than light from a direct source.
These types of plants thrive in moonlight. These plants are often nocturnal and are strongly linked to the lunar cycle.
They can be used in potions revolving around lunar magic.
Full sun:
this type of plant needs full sunlight. it requires six hours of exposure to sunlight a day. it does not need to get six hours strait of sunlight, it can take in 3 hours in the morning and three hours in the afternoon.
Shade:
These plants must be kept away from too much sun, they should be kept in a nice shady area away from the sun.
There is a bit of a spectrum, ranging from “deep shade” to “light shade.” Deep shade, is for plants thriving on the forest floor, with no sunlight exposure.
Types:
annual- a plant with a life span of one year or less. Examples include basil and morning glory.
Biennial- a plant with a life span of two years. Examples include Forget-me-nots, black-eyed-susans, and Hagweed.
Herb- a plant with flowers and leaves. Often has medical properties, and is used in perfumes, medicine, and food.
