The morning dawned far too quickly, in my opinion. Before too long Caleb was shaking me, extremely vigorously, and I was objectionably glaring at him before slamming my pillow over my face. "Not now, Caleb!" I groaned. "Give me a few more minutes."
"We can't, Julia," Caleb said, with such desperation and seriousness that I pushed the pillow off and analysed him curiously, anxiously. "Julia, in the newspaper today there was strange things said."
"Like what?" I asked, unable to suppress a huge yawn.
"Some Muggles some place not too far from here were reported fainting away from some presumably invisible force. One of them is in hospital. The recovered has informed the interviewers that they felt extremely and strangely cold, and as if they'd never be happy again. Julia, the Death Eaters have sent Dementors after us."
I clapped a hand to my mouth and gasped. "B-But -" I stammered.
"It's reckless, yes. But they're determined not to let me get away with this - or you."
"Dementors are kept under control by the Ministry!" I said.
"Well, according to the Daily Prophet -" he displayed the paper - "there was a break in to Azkaban last night." He laughed mirthlessly. "Not too common, people breaking in to Azkaban when most there are trying to get out. Near dawn the Dementors left. Not too good. However, Ministry members travelled to Azkaban this morning to keep the prison in control. But... uh... there's problems, obviously. Everyone's guessed why the Dementors left. Who they were summoned by. It's evident, really."
I nodded, feeling sick. "Yes," I whispered hoarsely.
"So that's why we need to get moving."
"What?" I ejaculated. "We're still going on with the plan?"
"So you want your parents to die?" Caleb said absently, peering at the newspaper, flicking through the pages.
"I - no, of course not!" I said impatiently. "It's just..."
My voice faded. What should we do?
