Luna

Chapter 7
Draco and I were both gazing out the window when the compartment door slid open. "Luna? Why are you sitting with Malfoy?" Neville asked. Draco blushed, "I go by Draco now... I want to forget what I did last year... I was an idiot. And I know I don't deserve to be forgiven... but I just want to start new... I barely escaped Azkaban and now I want to make sure that I'm never in a situation like that again." Draco said nervously. "Yes... but why are you sitting with Luna?" Harry asked uncertainly. "Well... I sort of get Draco... I mean I didn't make those mistakes, but my dad did, and all summer I've had to live with that." I said. "Sit down." I said bossily after they had been standing there for a while. "Did you get on the train quickly?" Neville asked sitting down beside me. "Not really, I got onto the station five minutes before the train would leave so I had to get on." I answered as Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny settled down around us.

We sat in silence for a few minutes, "Are you okay Harry? You look like you're being controlled by capperlumps, but you obviously can't be because anyone who's ever ridden on a thestral is immune to them because they're scared of thestrals." I said knowledgeably. "It's nothing," Harry said distantly, "I was just thinking... it's going to be weird going back to Hogwarts, last time we saw it we were in the middle of a wizarding war. And I was just wondering if it's going to feel the same." We all sat thinking, Draco looked almost as if he wanted to say something but didn't know if he should, I could understand that it must feel awkward to sit in the same compartment as us when he had been so horrible to us for six years. "Of course it'll feel the same Harry, it's Hogwarts. You always said that Hogwarts was your home, and it still is." Said Ginny comfortingly. I wished I'd had that kind of pep talk after I found out about what my dad did, I hadn't wanted to return home, but I eventually realized that he did it out of love for me.

Rain began to pound against the window and Draco finally spoke, "We should get into our robes, I think we'll be there soon." he said faintly, as though he wasn't actually expecting anyone to listen to him. But we all did, we all changed into our Hogwarts robes. A few minutes later, the lunch trolley came around, the lady slid the door open and stuck her head into the compartment, "Anything from the trolley dears?" Harry, Draco, Neville, Hermione and I all stood up, but Ron's ears went pink and Ginny muttered something about not being hungry. Harry, Draco, Neville, Hermione and I all returned from the lunch trolley and dumped our sweets into an empty seat for everyone to eat from, Draco did this with uncertainty as though he was not sure he was allowed to share the treats with them, so he only took one chocolate frog until I offered him a box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. I kept thinking about how terrible Draco had been to me for six years, but I just felt so bad for him. I couldn't help but want to comfort him, to tell him I didn't think he was a bad person. But from the sideways looks that everyone else was giving him, they did not forgive him, and I didn't want to do anything to ruin my friendships with Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny and Neville.
