Chapter 11
When I entered the Ravenclaw common room, the first thing I saw was the statue of Rowena Ravenclaw with the Lost Diadem of Ravenclaw glittering on her head. I suppose it's not really the Lost Diadem of Ravenclaw anymore, it's more of the Destroyed Diadem of Ravenclaw. Hermione had told me all about their hunt for horcruxes and how the Diadem had been demolished.
I continued past the statue toward the spiral staircase that led to the girls dormitories. I glanced out the window on the way and saw a warm summer's breeze making the trees in the forbidden forest sway in unison. "Hello," I said in a brief greeting as I entered my dormitory and looked around seeing Alexis Cameron and Isabelle Harrison were already there. There were only four of us in the dormitory, I hadn't become very close with any of the girls but they were all like Wrackspurts in a hive. That is to say, very close. I walked across the room to my own bed which was right next to the window, I began pulling out my pajamas when I heard the door open. I looked up even though I knew who it was, who else would it be? I watched Makayla Carson walk in, her long caramel hair swaying with the motion of her movement, her ocean blue eyes roving over the room as she examined it, her pretty face lit up by a glowing smile. I looked back down and continued by search for my pajamas.
"Hi Alexis, Isabelle. It's good to see you! How was you're summer?" I heard Makayla ask, so she was just going to continue acting as if I didn't exist like she had since our first year? Even after a wizarding war had almost prevented her from ever being able to return here? After I had been held captive in a cellar for two months? I listened to Alexis and Isabelle answering Makayla's question, talking about how they were still mourning lost family members and friends. I had successfully found my pajamas and stood up, "What about you Luna? I heard that you're father hasn't been seen much, is he trying to fix his mistake?" Makayla asked. I didn't know if she was being mean or not, so I decided to answer her question and see where the conversation went from there. "Yeah, dad's trying to fix things. But it's going to take a long time, he tried to sell Harry to Voldemort." I said and sat down on my bed to savor the effect of my words. Isabelle had thrown what she was holding into the air and it flew out the open window, Alexis had fallen off of her bed and Makayla let out a small scream. I tried my hardest not to smile. "Are you all ok?" I asked as Isabelle ran to the window to try to spot what she had thrown out. "Yeah, I guess we're just not used to people using that name freely." Makayla said, clearly trying to put on a brave face.
After that we all went silent, Isabelle had run out of the dormitory to go retrieve the books she had thrown out the window. She had muttered something about needing those books for class tomorrow. Soon we were all in our pajamas and Isabelle had returned hot and sweaty, her cheeks flushed. We got into bed and soon a babble of conversation broke out on the other side of the room. I looked over and saw that all three of my roommates were sitting on Makayla's bed, Alexis was braiding Isabelle's hair as Makayla told them about her summer in during which she seemed to have gone to Spain.
I threw all three of them dirty looks that were not noticed in the slightest, then I turned over and gazed at the clock on my nightstand. It was 9:53 p.m. if they wanted to be on time for their classes tomorrow they would have to go to sleep soon. I flicked of my lamp and stuck my head under my pillow to drown out the voice of Makayla.
