Chapter 2: Confessions Pt I
Chapter 2
Dora POV
It’s one day later. Remus came back from last night with a tired expression, but didn’t even say a word to me. I sat there! Waiting for him! Did I forget to mention, I’ve been trailing him for about 30 minutes now? Not stalking, just worried. I summon the courage and go and run up to him. “Are you okay?” I whisper softly, though audibly. He still doesn’t look at me, he just keeps on walking forward like I’m not there. “Please!” I whisper-beg. “Talk to me.” I add, yet even softer. He still doesn’t say anything, but looks into my now violet eyes and blinks, then looks away. “What did I do?” I ask, worried more. He sighs. “It’s not what you did, it’s what I can’t do.” , he says. I should be happy that he’s speaking to me, but I feel drained by his words. “I really don’t care.” I say, not looking into his eyes. “But I do.” He says back, emotionless. Another tear falls down my cheek, and he looks at me. “Don’t cry.” He says to me, expressing emotion finally. “I’m not crying.” I say, though I clearly am. He sighs, and looks into nothing. “I have to go now.” He says, but it is readable that he has nowhere to be. “No. Please don’t go!” I exclaim, though still whispering. He looks at me once again, and turns away, his cloak gently swishing behind him. I don’t follow him like before. Instead I wave to him, knowing he can’t see me. Our meetings were usually like this; short and brief, not having much meaning. My thoughts travel back to what he said. Why does he care? I’m the one who should get to make that decision! It’s not fair at all! I apparate to him, and turn up at a small, grassy, hill. He’s just sitting there, not doing anything. I walk over and sit behind him. “Just give up on this, Dora.” He says calmly, though I can see something that I can’t quite detect flashing through his eyes. “I won’t. You might, but I won’t.” I reply, hoping that I didn’t sound clingy or anything. He sighs once again. He does that a lot. He opens his mouth, but then closes it, and shakes his head. “I love you.” I say, surprised myself of what came out of my mouth. I’ve thought it a lot, but I’ve never said it out loud. I recognize the look in his eyes. Hurt. I don’t want to do this, so I get up. I start to walk away, even though I could just apparate, plain walking away seemed more dramatic. “Wait.” He says, and I immediately start walking back to him. “Dora.” , he begins, then pauses. “Dora, no. You know it can’t.” He says, and I do know the reason. Though I hope that’s the only reason.
