In The Dark Night

Chapter 11
I didn't have time to yell at Caleb for his recklessness before I realised he had Amycus's wand. Then Amycus seized his wrist and fought him off. There came shouts from upstairs and Alecto Carrow came tearing into the room. In one glance she knew what was happening. "Crucio!" She screamed. Nothing better could have happened as she missed Caleb and hit her brother instead. Amycus screamed, writhing in agony on the floor. Hastily, Alecto tried to fix her mistake but Caleb was upon her, wrestling her wand out of her hand, but she yelled, "Flipendo!" And he was thrown backwards. Scooping up Amycus's wand that had been dropped on the floor, I cried, "Expelliarmus!" And Alecto's wand shot out of her hand. Caleb caught it. Alecto stood their frozen for a moment, her brother's screams echoing around the cellar. Quickly, Caleb lifted the curse. Amycus lay limp and motionless.
Then Alecto screamed, "The prisoners are escaping!"
There were hasty footsteps above and the sound of descending people on the stairs. "Confringo!" Caleb yelled, and the wall of the cellar blasted. The night air swept in, with it a cold breeze arrived, raising goosebumps on my arms and an inward chill inside. I shivered, but before I knew it Caleb had seized my arm and tugged me outside. I ran with him, tearing through the fancy garden of the Malfoys' with peacock's fluttering frightened as he disturbed them on their nighttime patrols. We could hear Death Eaters behind us, but we ignored them, pressing on desperately. Then we heard a yell and screams. I stopped, and so did Caleb.
"Mum - and Dad," I said, my voice strangely choked. "We can't leave them."
"And we won't," Caleb said, his voice trembling but his expression determined. "You stay here, Julia, while I -" he paused, then swallowed and continued, "while I go." He was clasping my hand, and I his. A tear slid down my cheek before I could dry my eyes.
"Oh, don't go," I said. "This is all my fault -"
"It's not your fault, Julia," Caleb said. "Now I have to go, before anything happens." He made to depart, but before I knew it he had turned back and hugged me tight. "I'm sorry," he whispered.
"Sorry for what?" I replied in similar hushed tones.
"Sorry for what's going to happen," Caleb answered. He backed away. "Good bye, Julia."
And then he was gone.
