Maisy Stellen has hand magic. She is a orphan, and sleeps in an old barn. Her friend Isabella, lives in a perfectly fine house, but she doesn't tell her parents about Maisy. She says that wouldn't like her. So Isabella smuggles her food from the house, and that is how Maisy is living. But then something terrible happens.... If you like my book, you can owl me. Chapter Three
Chapter 3
Someone was kicking Maisy gently. She opened her eyes and saw Isabella.
"Hey! It took a long time for you to wake up," said Isabella. "Come on and get up. I brought you dinner."
"Thanks," said Maisy. She then realised that it was already dark. "How long have I been sleeping?" she asked.
"About three hours," replied Isabella, grinning.
Maisy took the plate from Isabella, which had lasagne in it. She ate it hungrily while Isabella patted Star, Albinia and Bella, two other horses.
"You know, I think it would be okay if we did meet that man Ben by the cherry tree, tomorrow," said Isabella, after some silence.
"But Isabella, you know that man stole Buddy!" said Maisy, swallowing a mouthful of lasagne.
"I don't think he was stealing," said Isabella.
Maisy raised her eyebrows. "How do you know?"
Isabella didn't answer and there was silence again. Then she said, "Well, I better get ready for bed." She took the plate from Maisy, who had gave Buddy some of her dinner.
"Well, goodnight and thanks," said Maisy.
"Goodnight," said Isabella and she left the barn.
Maisy curled up on her blanket, which Isabella had gave her and went lay in the silence except from the moving of the horses in their stalls. Then there was silence. Maisy was sure she had heard someone talking, but maybe she had just imagined it. Slowly she drifted into an uneasy sleep.
Maisy soon awakened and looked around. Then she heard some whistling and heavy footsteps and Maisy realised that it was Isabella's dad coming to take one of the horses for a ride. She snatched up her blanket and hid behind a big barrel.
Isabella's dad walked into the barn. "Good morning Star, Albinia and Bella," he said. He picked up a saddle and led Bella out of her stall. Then he put the saddle on her firmly and then some reins on. Bella nickered.
"Okay girl," said Isabella's dad. "Let's go." He mounted Bella and rode out of the barn.
"Phew!" Maisy sighed. Then suddenly she remembered what Ben had said. ' " Meet me here in the morning." ' But Maisy was still suspicious. She got up from behind the barrel and looked out of the barn. Isabella's dad appeared not to be in sight.
Cautiously she went out of the barn and to her surprise she saw Isabella outside with Jerry. They were chatting together.
"Oh, Maisy, good morning," said Isabella. "I came in a bit earlier to see you but you were asleep.
"Oh," said Maisy. "Um, Jerry, I am going to meet Ben today - I mean now," she said.
"What?" said Jerry. "No - Maisy - no!"
"Yes, I am going to meet him," said Maisy firmly. "He won't do anything, and I am curious to say what he says."
"Well fine, be dumb," said Jerry, glaring at her.
"Hey!" said Maisy. And she started marching towards where they had met Ben the day before.
Isabella ran after her.
