Maisy Stellen has hand magic. She is a orphan, and sleeps in an old barn. Her friend Isabella, lives in a perfectly fine house, but she doesn't tell her parents about Maisy. She says that wouldn't like her. So Isabella smuggles her food from the house, and that is how Maisy is living. But then something terrible happens.... If you like my book, you can owl me. Chapter One
Chapter 1
Maisy Stellen peered into the window of her friend's house. There they were, having their breakfast. Maisy licked her lips.
Then she saw Isabella jump up from the table, and she heard her announce, "I finished mum! Can I just go outside for a bit?"
"Sure," said Isabella's mum without looking up.
"Great!" Isabella bounded away, and soon she was right in front of me. "I managed to get you this without mum seeing." She held up a sandwich.
"Ooh, thanks!" Maisy said, and bit into the sandwich.
"Where's Buddy?" Isabella asked.
"Oh, probably playing somewhere," replied Maisy.
Buddy was Maisy's dog. He had been a stray before Maisy had rescued him.
"Can you do it now? Please?" Isabella asked excitedly.
"Oh, fine," said Maisy, but eagerly. She placed her half eaten sandwich on the ground, and then did something with her hands. The sandwich immediately rose into the air.
Isabella clapped her hands. "That is so cool!" she said. "Wandless magic!"
"Yeah, I guess so," said Maisy. She tried not to sound like she was boasting, but she felt a little proud of herself.
"Oh, and I can't wait to go to Hogwarts!" said Isabella.
Then Maisy felt a little sad. Would she be able to go to Hogwarts. She was different. She asked Isabella if she could.
"Uh. . . Yeah," said Isabella. She started to say something else, but then stopped.
"Anyway," said Maisy, "um, I am just going to find Buddy."
Isabella nodded, and she walked off.
Maisy began to walk in the opposite direction, thoughts swirling inside her mind. What if she couldn't go to Hogwarts because she was a little bit different? But she pushed the thought out of her mind and instead whistled for Buddy. There was no answering bark. That was a bit weird. Buddy always came when she whistled for him. Maisy began to search around the farmyard.
For a while she searched and searched, called and whistled, but nothing. Maisy began to get nervous. What if something bad had really happened to him? Maybe . . . maybe he had got kidnapped.
Maisy began to get really panicky. She ran to one of the house windows. Luckily, only Isabella was in the dining hall at the moment. Maisy rapped on the window, and Isabella immediately looked up. Eyeing my panicky face, she ran out of the house, and was at my side in one second.
"What's the matter?" she asked me frantically.
"It's Buddy. Buddy's gone! I have searched everywhere!" Maisy said, swallowing hard.
"What?" Exclaimed Isabella. "Gone?"
"Yes!"
"Well, we should search."
"I have! Everywhere!" shouted Maisy.
"Well, it's time to get Jerry then."
Then she saw Isabella jump up from the table, and she heard her announce, "I finished mum! Can I just go outside for a bit?"
