A New Day Begun

written by Lizzie Scamander

With a different font inside and a thrilling story to read, this is the second book attached to "When They Came That Night" and is based on the duration of Julia's trip to Malfoy Manor to rescue her parents. She is now accompanied by a Death Eater's stepson, and though she isn't sure whether to trust him he is of great help on her journey north. Remembrances Of That Night

Chapter 4
We left the Motel as soon as we had packed and were ready to go. Nervousness fluttered unceasingly within me, and despite my many attempts to keep it an insignificant emotion, it was extremely difficult. I wondered if Caleb knew how to apparate - if so, that would be considerably helpful, but if he could wouldn't he have demonstrated the ability already? I asked him as we set off down the road, and, as I felt a negative jolt in my stomach, I contemplated his heavy sigh.
"No," he replied. "My education at Hogwarts was hard. Even though I'm sixth year, I can't. When I was fifteen I couldn't study it properly - Amycus insisted that I turn my attention completely to the Dark Arts." As he said this I became aware of another question, that flared inside me and convinced me inwardly to be asked.
"Did anyone at Hogwarts know about your -" I paused, then finished awkwardly - "stepfather?"
Caleb shook his head. "Of course not. Obviously they were a bit suspicious after seeing physical discomforts around me, from the Cruciatus Curse, but no enquiries were aroused."
"The Cruciatus Curse?" I repeated incredulously.
Caleb nodded simply.
We turned right. The street was curiously empty, and only a Muggle or two hurried by occasionally. I peered around nervously, but too late.
BANG!
Immediately my thoughts went back to that night, when they had come. They were back.
