Muggles

Chapter 12

Though Muggles die and pass through this facility as well, they have much fewer options in terms of the paths they can take after death. Because of that, they pass through a different part of the facility and receive a different handbook.

Is it possible that you will encounter Muggles in your afterlife? Yes. There are some cases where Muggles and witches and wizards can take the same pathways: Heaven, Hell, Nothingness, Reincarnation, and Public Servants. So it is possible that your paths may cross, though it is a limited thing.

Muggles may also be able to become Vampires, Werewolves, and Mummies, though this is even more rare--so rare, in fact, that not much is known.

The question most often asked, in terms of Muggles, is whether magical and Muggle loved ones can be reunited after death. This question is hard to answer, both because it is complex and because it is often heartbreaking. Witches and wizards may have more options for their afterlives than Muggles, but they can not actually cheat death. Death has a way of eventually separating each of us from all that we have and are--unfortunately, this means relationships too.

As touched on in the Ghost chapter, you may choose to continue your afterlife as a Ghost for the purpose of holding on to someone you love, but:

  1. You will not be able to touch or hug them.
  2. They will live and grow and change in ways that you can not.
  3. They will grow older while you can not.
  4. They will eventually die and they may not choose (or, in the case of Muggles) be able to choose the same path as you.
Muggles maybe be around our afterlives, but, as with our Statute of Secrecy, we often still find ourselves on opposite sides of the community.
