The Unexpected Visitor

Chapter 9
The two stared at each other. No words were said.
"Malfoy?" Hermione said, sounding confused, taking a step forward and removing her arms from the windowsill. He looked just as surprised as she was, and seemed unable to come up with an explanation.
"I..." he stammered, running his fingers through his blonde hair; it looked almost white in the moonlight. "I just..." After a few moments, he sighed, taking a few steps towards her. "I wanted to see how you were doing."
Hermione met his eyes; she didn't look away. A minute passed...two... She looked away, mentally punching herself as her cheeks took on a pink tinge. "Thanks." she glanced at him, quickly turning her gaze to the view out the window. "You're the only one that... came to visit" she said quietly, putting her elbows back on to the windowsill. Draco walked towards her, stopping a few feet away. He turned towards the view of the lake, immediately seeming to be transfixed as the waves traveled back and forth, back and forth.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" She said quietly. He glanced at her, face reddening the slightest bit.
"Yeah. It is."
After a few minutes of silence, Hermione turned towards him. "You're the only one that came today." she said, slightly clenching her fists. "You're the only one that actually seemed to care." Tears formed in her eyes, and she blinked rapidly, trying to get rid of them. "Ron's with Lavender, Ginny's probably with Harry, and Luna...I don't know. Maybe she and Neville are having a talk about exotic plants and endangered animals." A tear slid down her cheek; she didn't wipe it away.
"I'm...sorry." Draco said, his voice not seeming sarcastic at all. "Really, Hermione. I am."
She didn't expect this to happen- and neither did he. Somehow, a moment later, they found each other held in an embrace. Strangely, they didn't pull apart. They just stayed like that- silent- until they both felt that it was the right time. They just stared at each other; finally eye- to- eye for once. Literally.
