America In The Wizarding Wars

Chapter 7

As so many of the readers know, when Tom Riddle came into power, he took Britain by storm; he did not, however, have much of a foothold in American wizarding communities. It was the odd witch or wizard to join up with his "Death Eaters", though a lot of Magical folks did like his idea that Wizards were superior to Muggles, and Muggle-borns were a drain on the resources.

A group, not unlike the Order of the Phoenix of Britain, arose from America. This group, called the American Wizarding Defense Association, fought against the Americans that had taken up arms for Riddle. This group was on equal footing with the American Death Eaters, and they fought against them tirelessly.

Perhaps the most well known battle in which the AWDA took part was the Battle for Liberty Way, in which thirteen of the AWDA members were killed or wounded, while most of the Death Eaters were dead at the hands of the suitable leader, Alda Crow, the current Minister for Magic in America. Miss Crow was a fierce fighter, and she never gave up hope.

During the Second Wizarding War, the American Wizarding Defense Association was quicker on the uptake, as was the entire American Wizarding Community, that Riddle had returned. Witches and Wizards were flocking to join in the AWDA, hoping that they would receive protection. Alda Crow had a good reputation for protecting her members and the Minister for Magic at the time, and few of them were hurt, though the American Minister was assassinated by an American Death Eater, Minerva Connely. Minerva was executed for her crime, but not before taking out the majority of the Minister's guard, and wounding Alda Crow herself.
