Newt Scamander

Newt Scamander is an unassuming naturalist whose mild demeanor and devotion to the entire gamut of magical creatures hides enough cleverness and strength to stand up to none other than Gellert Grindelwald himself. Newt’s career as a magizoologist began as a young man working for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. He became the celebrated author of the book Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, now considered to be the premier bestiary of the wizarding world. Scamander retired to Dorset after decades of research and exploration.

Newt's birthdate comes from a prop created for the film series. The creators of those props, MinaLima, have stated that the facts on their props are given to them by Rowling herself, so we assume that the date on the "travel permit" is canon.
