Cygnus Black, son of Phineas Nigellus Black, dies at age 54
He is the great-grandfather to Sirius and Regulus Black, as well as Bellatrix, Narcissa, and Andromeda Black.

Hagrid is falsely accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets
He is so accused because Tom Riddle catches him raising an Acromantula in the castle (CS17).
June 13th, 1943
Aragog the Acromantula is released into the Forbidden Forest
Hagrid has been raising the baby Acromantula in a cupboard in the Hogwarts dungeons, but his arrangement is revealed to the teachers by Tom Riddle, suggesting to them that the Acromantula was responsible for the death of Myrtle Warren. Hagrid is expelled from Hogwarts for supposedly causing the death of a student.
Hagrid will later find Aragog a wife, Mosag, and together the two Acromantulas will establish a colony in the Forbidden Forest (CS15).
June 13th, 1943
Hagrid remains at Hogwarts and is trained as gamekeeper, thanks to Dumbledore
Believing Hagrid innocent, Dumbledore convinces Headmaster Dippet to let the boy stay .
Notes
Dumbledore may have also had something to do with placing Hagrid's broken wand inside his pink umbrella.
