Part 1: The Incident
Chapter 2
~3rd person pov~
"UGH" Phoenix groaned as she again got a bad grade because Draco didn't show up to class. Draco usually didn't show up to class and the one day that she was late they picked partners for potions. So Professor Snape paired them up.Draco behind the never showing up to class thing was a pretty good kid. She saw him in the library helping other first years study. She thought he was nice and they were pretty good friends, she just would get frustrated when he showed up late for class, or didn't show at all. He always showed up to Care of Magical Creatures which was weird since he never showed up to any other class. She waited for him near Hagrid's hut where Care of Magical Creatures took place, looking slightly annoyed. Draco walked up to her noticing her annoyance.
"You okay?" he asked her.
She glared at him, "No I'm not, you didn't show for potions again and I'm nearly failing now."
Draco chuckled, "A b+ is not nearly failing Phoenix,"
"Whatever Malfoy," she said with a cocky smile. She didn't know it yet, but she was starting to fall for Draco Malfoy.
~fast forward to potions class the next day~
~Draco's Pov~
I take my time getting to potions, knowing that Phoenix will get mad at me, but Snape knows I almost never show up, so he has just learned to ignore me. I finally get down to the dungeons about a quarter of the way through class.
Phoenix is looking down at the potions book very focused on the right way to put the ingredients in the potion. She doesn't notice me until she hears the chair next to hear squeak against the floor.
She looks over at me and rolls her eyes. "At least you made it to class today." She says in almost a defeated tone, like she had no reason to be mad.
"So-" I start. I cant get more than that out before Phoenix interrupts me.
"We're brewing a love potion." She says.
I smirk. "A love potion huh?" She smacks my arm.
"Don't even think about it Malfoy." She warns.
I give an innocent look, "Don't think about what?" Everything next happens in a blur. She looks at me fiercely, but blushing furiously. She looks back at the potion and realized she added way too much dragon blood. Before anyone has a chance to do anything the cauldron explodes, shooting boiling potion everywhere. The lot of it hits Phoenix, right on the stomach. It burns a hole through part of her robes, and gives her a nasty burn covering most of her torso. I use my wand to levitate her up to the infirmity since I cant carry her up there myself. I sit next to her bed all night and at some point I fall asleep.
**Sorry this chapter is so short and not very good. It just kind of an intro to why Draco and Phoenix are enemies. The chapters will get better after this.**
