Chapter 6
Eleanor followed Alban down the aisle till he led her into an empty compartment.
"I'll go find Brynn." He said. "Wait here and don't leave the compartment, ok?"
"I know." Eleanor said, taking a seat and looking around. "I'm fine."
Alban nodded and left. Eleanor looked out the window and spotted her mother in the crowd, making her way back to the portal where she thought Eleanor must be.
Let the train move, Eleanor thought desperately. Before she finds me!

As if the train was answering her pleads, there was a toot and hiss from the engine. Eleanor watched as her mother reached the portal and then looked around with a mixture of confusion and fury in her eyes. Eleanor ducked low in her seat.

"Hello. Um - what are you doing?" Asked a voice. Eleanor whirled around to face the door of the compartment.
A girl was standing in the doorway. She had shoulder-length mousey brown hair, bright blue eyes and a button nose. She was wearing laced boots, a black hoodie, and ripped jeans that looked like they had not been torn on purpose.
Eleanor stuttered. "Oh - I was - well -"
"Doesn't matter." The girl said cheerfully, waving her hand as if to swat away a fly. "Hey, do you mind if I sit in here? Everywhere else is full."
"No - no problem." Said Eleanor weakly.
The girl smiled and sat down. "Are you O.K? You look slightly pale."
"I'm fine. Just excited." Eleanor said.
"I know. Me too. It's my first year at Hogwarts." The girl said brightly, but then her smile faded. Eleanor twiddled her thumbs, feeling awkward.
The girl was smiling again. "What's your name?"
Eleanor was at a loss for what to do. Should she tell this girl her name? If she did, would it be easier for someone to find out that she was a squib? Maybe she would have to make up a name...

But at that moment Alban saved her by entering the compartment. Someone was behind him, who he had obviously brought with him. He saw the girl sitting opposite Eleanor and his facial muscles tightened. He looked at the girl, paused and then said abruptly, "Can you please leave?"
The girl looked hurt. Eleanor thought she would protest, but she stood up and pushed past Alban and the person behind him.
Once the girl had left, Eleanor blurted out, "What did you have to do that for?"
Alban looked at her incredulously. "We're supposed to be keeping you hidden! You can't go meeting a whole lot of people the minute you get on the train!"
Eleanor sniffed. Then she asked, "Who's this, then?"
The person behind Alban, a girl with wavy black hair and the sharpest, most alert eyes Eleanor had ever seen with a mischievously smiling mouth stepped forward and held out her hand. "I'm Brynn."
"Oh." Eleanor answered, blushing, shaking her hand. "Sorry, I just -"
"Not a problem." Brynn said, and then she punched her fist into her palm. "So - let's get down to business."
Alban held up a hand. "Wait a second." He looked out into the corridor, made sure no one was there, and then shut the compartment door and locked it. "O.K, go."
Brynn sat down, examining Eleanor thoroughly. "I don't think it'll be too hard to conceal her. You'll be staying in the Slytherin common room, O.K?"
"You're a Slytherin, like Alban?" Eleanor asked.
"Of course." Brynn grinned. "Cunning, clever - that's me. Anyway, you'll be living there -"
"Won't I be able to visit other parts of the castle?"
Alban and Brynn glanced at each other. Then Alban said, "I think so, but we haven't figured out a method of keeping you disguised yet. You've got some Hogwarts robes, of course (my old ones) but we can't just let you wander around visibly all the time. People would start asking questions."
"I thought you had that charm?" Eleanor said.
"We do, but we can't be using it all the time." Alban answered.
Eleanor looked from one to the other helplessly. "Look, I'm obviously incredibly grateful to you two for helping me, but if I have to stay in the common room the whole year -"
"We'll figure something out." Brynn said. "I know we will." She didn't seem very worried, and leant back in her seat. "For now, let's just enjoy the ride! Oh, great, here's the trolley witch."
Eleanor sighed, wondering if coming to Hogwarts was such a good idea after all. Shut up! She told herself. You're just worried. Just think and the solution will come...
