Backstory

I knew I would be put in Slytherin. My mother was in Ravenclaw and my father was in Gryffindor, but I am not quite like either of them. To be honest, I don’t really know who I get my personality traits from… My parents always remind me how clever I am, and I suppose that’s true. I guess you could say I’m not very “book smart”, but I’m told I’m mature for my age and I do have a keen sense about the world and those around me…what do the muggles call that… “street smart”? Whatever…

I’m not really about school. I never have been. I guess Defense Against the Dark Arts will be cool, and I've heard good things about Astronomy however, school was not a big push in my family growing up, despite my mother’s own pride. She always told me I was “destined beyond schooling”… My mother works in the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry, and, boy did that show. I don’t know much about her work, but she always had food on the table and lets me live my own life, so I don’t mind a few secrets. My father died in the Battle of Hogwarts, when I was just seven years old. He worked at the Ministry as an Auror, and I’m told he fought bravely, but that’s pretty much all I know about him.

Mom is excited for me to start at Hogwarts, though she keeps reminding me to keep my head down whenever possible, and not to make trouble. Sometimes late at night I hear her muttering to herself that I most likely won’t make it through all seven years. That must be a crack at my intelligence, but I never much care what people think about me. I’m confident in myself. Nobody can bring me down if I don't let them.
